Man Nearly Loses His Penis After Cobra Hiding In Toilet Bites Him On The Testicles

A man has narrowly avoided losing his genitals after a snouted cobra hiding inside a toilet bit him on the testicles.

The 47-year-old was holidaying in South Africa when he had to go to the bathroom to answer nature's call.

However as he sat down, he didn't notice the highly venomous snake waiting in the bottom of the bowl, who ended up sinking its teeth into his balls.

The snake injected its venom into the man's private parts and he ended up being in an incredible amount of pain.

He was flown to the nearest hospital (which was 350kms away) and by then the pain had spread from his genitals to to his stomach and chest and he started vomiting.

Doctors noted the man was suffering from 'swollen genitals with a deep purple discolouration, indicating scrotal necrosis'.

They pumped him full of anti-venom, tetanus and broad-spectrum antibiotics to get the immediate danger addressed.

Because of where the snake sunk its teeth into, doctors then had to address the dying sack.

They performed a 'surgical debridement', which involves 'thoroughly cleaning the wound and removing all hyperkeratotic, infected, and dead tissue.

His penis had also suffered during the incident and that required a debridement.

The bloke was eventually repatriated to the Netherlands after nine days in a South African hospital and physicians there said it was the first case ever recorded of scrotal necrosis with that snake species.

A study published in the journal Urology Case Reports said: "Six days after repatriation, a plastic surgeon performed penile shaft debridement, with extensive resection of dead tissue.

"After a further 6 days, a full-thickness graft was harvested from the groin and placed over the penile defect."

The pictures published in the journal are pretty full-on so we won't be publishing them here, but you can click on the website and see for yourself. But don't say we didn't warn you.

The 47-year-old had to do a followup with doctors a year after the horrifying event and they noted that the wound had healed quite well.

The man had nearly full use of his penis and a plastic surgeon performed a Z-plasty to stop the scars from pulling.

All in all, it was a totally successful mission, however the bloke will probably never sit on a toilet again without having some fear that a snake will come out of nowhere and bite him again.
