Man Raises Almost $2000 For Movember With Penis-Shaped Running Routes

Shane Moore was dedicated to his phallic run routes for the whole month.

An Irish bloke has raised almost $2,000 for Movember by doing running routes that looked a little naughty.

Shane Moore from Marino in Dublin decided to 'run a d**k a day' and wanted to ensure these daily exercise efforts would give back to the community.

Movember is a charity focused on men's health, in particular raising awareness and funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health and suicide prevention.

The month of November is a focus for the charity, and is why you've probably seen a number of lads rocking '70s-esque moustaches as they raise funds for the cause.

Moore told Dublin Live he came up with the idea after doing a 'd**k-shaped cycle'. Did I expect to write those words today? No, no I did not.

"I did a d**k-shaped cycle back in March just for a laugh. On Strava, you can actually draw out your routes and one Clontarf shape caught my eye," Moore said.

"On Halloween, I had planned on doing a run anyway after just moving to Clontarf. You can get creative on runs because it's a lot of time by yourself. Sometimes the stupid ideas are the best ones."

Moore said he wasn't able to grow a moustache, saying 'people would probably report me if they saw me with a moustache', so this was the next best option.

"Obviously it's about men's health issues like testicular cancer. I thought it was an interesting and eye-catching way to raise awareness for something quite serious," he said.

Moore's initial target for the fundraiser was $800 and he has far surpassed that after his antics caught the eye of the internet.

"I've had my struggles with mental health and I wanted to help people who might need help, in a way that wasn't incredibly serious," he said.

Perhaps more surprising than this champ's phallic running routes is the fact this isn't a new idea.

"Dick_run_claire" on Instagram has more than 55,000 followers for her incredible artistic creations and Adam Linsell from Welwyn Garden City in England raised almost $3,000 for testicular cancer earlier this year with his schlong sprints.

Testicular Cancer New Zealand even got in on the action in April 2017 with their #GoBallsOut campaign, which encouraged people to go out on a run or walk, and create a giant 'c**k & balls'.

For those of us who would do anything to get out of going for a run, this is very impressive work, and even better when it's raising much needed funds for charity.

Shine on you crazy diamonds.
