Lionel Messi has been ordered to demolish his luxury Barcelona hotel.
The footballer owns the £26 million MiM Sitges Hotel, which is a four star boutique hotel located at the heart of Sitges in the Catalonian capital.
Spanish news publication El Confidencial claims that the court has ordered Messi to demolish the property because it doesn’t meet the required building regulations in Barcelona.

According to the report, the balconies on Messi’s hotel are too big and risk causing the building to collapse if they’re not downsized or removed.
The building's fire escape plan also isn’t up to standard.
Messi bought the property in 2017 and was apparently unaware that the building had already been ordered for demolition by the time he became the owner. El Confidencial claims that the Ballon d’Or winner was only made aware of the issues when they approached him for comment.
Messi, who’s spent the majority of his life in Barcelona after joining the LaLiga club at age 13, also reportedly owns hotels in Ibiza and Majorca.

The 34-year-old has struggled to give his best game since moving into Parc des Princes, but he pulled it out of the bag last week and won the Ballon d’Or for a record seventh time, ahead of Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski. His son, Thiago, had a rather confused reaction to his father’s trophy.

During the Ballon d’Or ceremony, a humble Messi used his acceptance speech to say that Robert Lewandowski deserved the trophy and that he was robbed of it last year.
"I'd like to mention Robert, it's been a real honour to compete with him," Messi said on stage. "I think France Football should award you your 2020 Ballon d'Or, you deserved it."
