A couple have gone viral after their romantic proposal didn't quite go to plan, as the groom-to-be ended up being booted into the water from a boat by his missus.
The clip shows an unnamed man walking gingerly along the edge of a parked boat towards his partner, who is sitting in another boat alongside.

Pulling the other vessel towards him, the bloke leans forward and pops the question.
However, as they embrace - presumably after a 'yes' from his partner - the woman's boat suddenly jerks forward and whizzes off.
The huge jolt knocks the woman down, who accidentally kicks her leg out as she speeds away, clipping the man with her foot in the process.

This sends him flying into the water, while onlookers let out a shocked shriek.
The video was shared by the daughter of one of the woman's friends, who posted it on TikTok with the caption: "Proposal gone wrong."
She also explained in the video: "My mom's friend got proposed to today and just wait for it..."
The footage has racked up more than two million views on TikTok, but has since been shared on other social media sites including Twitter.
Commenting on the video, one person tweeted: "I'm not even lying. My cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. I wasn't expecting that. The way she went flying and kicked him in the face."

Another person said: "Love it!! I hope they have a beautiful wedding away from the water! Congrats!!!!"
A third added: "I expected him to drop the ring in the water. The actual result was soooo much better."
Others said they hoped the couple were okay, wishing them a 'long wonderful marriage'
Luckily for them, they're not the only ones to have a perfect proposal scuppered by an accident - far from it.

Recently, another groom-to-be had his magical moment almost ruined when he slipped and fell over just seconds before he got down onto one knee.
Maria Gugliotta had been hanging out with her partner Logan Jackson in Grand Haven, a city on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan.
Unbeknownst to Maria, Logan had a ring in his pocket - but before he was able to do anything about it, nature took things into its own hands.

As Logan tried to walk down a short slope into the water where Maria was, his foot hit a patch of sludgy seaweed and he toppled to the floor.
As Maria walked over to see if he was okay, Logan then styled it out and got onto one knee, whipping out a ring to ask for her hand in marriage.
Maria, who said yes and planted a big kiss on him as people nearby cheered, later shared the clip on Facebook, writing: "He fell so hard he popped up with a ring!!! I'm so excited but first I have to stop laughing."
