OJ Simpson 'Understands' Where Will Smith Was Coming From With Oscars Slap

OJ Simpson 'Understands' Where Will Smith Was Coming From With Oscars Slap

Will Smith's slap to Chris Rock at the Oscars has got everyone talking, including OJ Simpson

OJ Simpson says he 'understands' where Will Smith was coming from after he slapped Chris Rock in the face at the Oscars. Watch below:

In case you've not been on your phone in a couple days, let's backtrack to what happened at this years' Academy Awards.

The Fresh Prince actor hit Rock in the face after the comedian made a joke about his wife Jada.

The comedian joked that Pinkett Smith looked like GI Jane and Will absolutely lost it.

After returning to his seat, Smith shouted: "Keep my wife's name out your f**king mouth."

Anyway, quite bizarrely, OJ Simpson has given his thoughts on the incident.

Taking to Twitter, the acquitted double-murder suspect said: "Every comedian in the country had an OJ routine.

"Look, I understood the feeling.

"In my life, I've been through a lot of crap when I was raising two young kids and every comedian in the country had an O.J. routine, and don't think I wouldn't want to [b**ch] slap a couple of them, but you got to accept that it's human."

He concluded: "Hey, look, it was unfortunate. I think Will was wrong."

In 1994 OJ's former wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman were both found dead at Nicole's home in Los Angeles and Simpson was arrested and charged with their murders.

However, he was acquitted by a jury after taking part the most-viewed judicial proceeding in American TV history.

Following the shocking moment at this year's Oscars, Smith has since apologised for his actions.

Taking to Instagram yesterday (29 March) he wrote: "Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable.

"Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

"I would like to publicly apologise to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.

"I would also like to apologise to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologise to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behaviour has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.

"I am a work in progress."
