A simple psychological test with just four questions about your preferences can help you to find out more about your personality.

The quick quiz apparently assesses your personality by looking at things you like and the reasons why you like them, before applying them to different aspects of your life.

The test was shared on TikTok by Made in Chelsea star, Jamie Laing, in May, with thousands of social media users taking part and sharing their surprise at their answers.

Described as a 'psychological test which will test your personality in four questions', the quiz simply asks for you to answer four questions and provide two adjectives alongside your answers for each question.

The test begins with asking you what your favourite animal is and why, with Jamie giving the example of a dog as it is both 'cuddly' and 'loyal'. Your response to the first question shows you how describe and think about yourself.

Next up is your favourite food along along with two words to describe it, and this shows how you describe your partner.

Thirdly, the personality test asks you to share what your favourite colour is and why, as this shows how people describe you.

And finally, you are asked to say what your favourite 'type of water' is, e.g. the ocean, swimming pool, lake, waterfall. Your response to the final question describes your sex life.

Jamie's video quickly racked up 52,000 likes and over 2,000 comments on TikTok, with dozens of users expressing their shock at their answers and how they apply to their real life.

"My answers were bizarre. Think I need to re-learn what an adjective is," one person joked, while a second commented: "Not me saying sparkling to the water question," with a laughing emoji.

A third TikTok user said: "I'm not impressed with my 4th question a pool because it's safe and clean," as many others responded with similar answers and laughing emojis.

Personality tests are not absolutely accurate but can help give insights that allow you to better understand yourself and others around you.

These types of tests tend to use simple questions to measure specific personality traits and human behaviour, and certain personality tests are even used in hiring processes.

However, there is little evidence to suggest they help us to become more self-aware and some even argue they bring us no closer to understanding ourselves or others.
