Robert De Niro And Ben Stiller Comparison In Meet The Parents Is Making People Feel Very Old

Robert De Niro And Ben Stiller Comparison In Meet The Parents Is Making People Feel Very Old

People on Reddit can’t believe the newly discovered comparison made between Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller

First of all, the fact that Meet The Parents is 21 years old is just absolutely frightening.

But what’s even more frightening is the fact that Ben Stiller is now the same age as Robert De Niro was in that film (56) and the internet is having a hard time believing it.

De Niro played Stiller’s father-in-law in the classic comedy film and as many of you will probably know – Greg Focker does all he can to get Jack to like him…with disastrous results.

The synopsis for the 2000 classic comedy reads: “Greg Focker decides to spend a weekend with his girlfriend's parents before proposing to her.

“However, her father instantly dislikes Greg, which makes his stay far worse than he imagined.”

Anyway, the discovery was brought to our attention on Reddit and users have been quick to join in on it.

One user joked: “woah. Robert De Niro look 65 in that movie.

“Shocked that he was only 56.”

“Holy s**t, it's been 23980 years already?!” a second commented.

Another sarcastic comment read: “And also consider this: I am 20 years older than I was in 2001.”

“This genuinely made me say 'ohh...' out loud,” a final user added.

Meet The Parents was, of course, the first of the trilogy of films that the pair starred in together.

Second was Meet The Fockers in 2004, followed by a late third film in 2010 titled Little Fockers.

Ever since the last film there have been calls for a fourth and someone on Reddit had a interesting plot idea.

They wrote: “I think it’s time for a fourth film in the saga.

“Imagine this, a 56 year old Greg Focker is shocked when his daughter brings home a drop kick boyfriend.

“Like a Pete Davidson-type. He wants to intimidate this guy but the dude is so confident and laid back that nothing phases him.

“He thinks back to how much he s**t himself meeting his girlfriend’s parents, so he enlists the help of Jack to take this kid down a peg.

“They team up and wacky hijinks ensue and we have not only Greg struggle to seem threatening but an ageing Jack losing his edge.

“Give it to James Mangold to direct, don’t set it in any established cinematic universe and watch it make a billion dollars.”

Not a bad shout to be fair.
