Wimbledon semi-finalist Arthur Fery has defied NHS guidance on the road to his showdown with Alexander Zverev.
Later today (July 10), the prestigious grass-courted Grand Slam continues with wildcard Fery's match against the French Open's latest champion Zverev, while decorated veteran Novak Djokovic takes on Jannik Sinner in the second men's semi-final.
In his run-up to the big German, British flag-flyer Fery had to bat away health issues to do with his nose, and just before epically disposing of Grigor Dimitrov in the Round of 16, he decided to undergo a secret procedure that would solve the constant nosebleeds.
This was the cauterisation of his nasal blood vessels, as he explained (per The Guardian): "I had a little procedure four days ago here on [my nose].That seemed to help. I've also tried to avoid wiping with a towel straight on the nose. I think that was also kind of not helping, so just a combination of things, just a bit of luck as well.
Advert
"Just getting the blood vessels cauterised in the nose. A small thing. Nothing major. Didn't hurt."

Advice published by the NHS encourages patients of this nature to 'rest and avoid any strenuous activities and sports for at least two weeks'.
Fery has done literally the opposite - battering Bulgarian flair player Dimitrov and Italy's Flavio Cobboli into submission on Centre Court (infront of the onlooking Royal Box guest Roger Federer, too) to reach his first career Grand Slam semi-final.
At least he's been taking it easy off the grass though, watching classic gangster films at home with his parents.
"I've been watching The Godfather. Bit of a throwback. Never watched it before. Just started it," he revealed.
"I've been staying at home, I finished late a few times so I just went home and slept. I've had a day off every time between my matches. That's been nice just practising. Had some normal dinners at home with my family and just relaxing there in my own bed. It's nice to just chuck a movie on and not think about tennis a little bit."
Meanwhile, Fery's ominous opponent has had his say on competing infront of a partisan crowd ahead of their Wimbledon semi-final.
"I'm almost 30 years old. I've been on tour for long enough. I feel like I've seen the most hostile crowds, I've seen tough crowds, I've seen unfair crowds as well," commented Zverev.
"I feel like I should know how to handle it, I've learned how to handle it. I'm okay with it. I
" always feel like the English crowd here, especially in London, they're always quite fair. Yes, they can be loud, they can be cheerful, but that's okay. I don't mind it at all. I just look forward to a tough challenge in the semi-final of a Slam."
Fery vs. Zverev is scheduled to start at 13:30 on BBC One.

Wimbledon food and drink prices
Fancy a tipple as you watch Jannik Sinner and Iga Świątek defend their Wimbledon titles? Well then, better hope those lottery numbers come in.
Not only has a 15-year freeze on the price of strawberries and cream ended, but your wallet will take a beating if you want hot food, and God forbid you want alcohol.
These are some of the worst offenders.
Food
Sausage roll - £5.40 (The Hill Larder)
Greggs, this is not.
Cornish pasty - £7 (The Hill Larder)
This better not be dry.
Fish finger sandwich - £14.50 (Walled Garden)
I’ll stick to the Maccies filet-o-fish for a fiver, I reckon.
Cumberland sausage (aka a hot dog) - £8.70 (Tea Lawn Sausage Grill)
You do get crispy onions and a brioche roll for your trouble.
Stuffed Courgette - £21.55 (Cafe Pergola)
The vegetable ratatouille comes with a choice of side salad, but surely this is a little steep.
Strawberries and cream - £2.85
The first time the price has gone up in 15 years; they’re 15p dearer nowadays.
Drink
250ml can of Pimms - £10.75 (Southern Village Pizza and Tea Lawn Sausage Grill)
Or…. you can watch at home and get a can for £2.24 from Asda. If you want a reusable glass with it, it's £13.45.
Stella Artois - £8.95 for a pint (Walled Garden and Tea Lawn Bar)
Inching towards a tenner for a Stella is criminal, surely?
250ml can of gin and tonic - £10.75 (Southern Village Pizza)
You can get a can of Gordon’s G&T for £2.40 at Tesco, just saying.
Bottle of Lanson Le Rosé Création Brut NV - £102 (Tea Lawn Bar)
No thanks.
