Expert explains why a sex ban is 'necessary' for athletes in Olympic Village

Apparently, the athletes should be holding off to help them win

Plenty of medals, plenty of sports and plenty of sex, apparently – that’s three big things that make an Olympics.

Yep, in case you’ve taken in the legendary games purely for the events and not the drama and gossip around them (good for you), the athletes are said to get pretty busy in the sheets of the Village.

Olympians have previously chatted about being ‘on fire’ during their time at the hot summer games, with others explaining they ‘hooked up with everyone’.

And experts have said so much sex goes on in the Olympic Village due to the athletes being at their best and wanting to release their energy.

However, while sleeping with other athletes isn’t banned during the games, a dating and relationships expert has explained why a sex ban is ‘necessary’ for athletes.

Jacob Lucas told AltIndex that sports stars can often have a higher sex drive than us mere mortals due to a number of factors, including having extra good chemicals pumping around their body – the legal kind.

As well as men levelling up in testosterone, there’s also the release of exercise from endorphins ‘which can improve people’s moods and increase their energy levels which can also increase people’s sex drive’.

Eating healthy and clean doesn’t just help with sport but also: “When you feel good, you want to have more sex. Simple.”

Add to that meeting so many people and exercise getting them into a positive move, then you’ve got a recipe for lots of sex.

While Lucas says sex can be a ‘great way to relieve tension’, he reckons a ban is more beneficial to the athletes.

Sex is a huge distraction to many. An athlete competing at the highest levels can’t afford to be distracted. They need to be hyper focused on the task at hand,” he explained.

“Many coaches will put their athletes on a sex ban to eliminate their athletes from deviating away from their training.”

Despite the release from a good shag, Lucas sees a positive in Olympics feeling tense from a sex ban because ‘tension and aggression’ can often be a good thing in competition.

“If you go into some sports TOO relaxed then it can be a very bad thing. But sometimes this tension can make you sharp and ready for what you need to do,” he said.

Although, Lucas does have some advice for those in relationships with athletes as a sex ban could be pretty difficult.

“You both must be disciplined and that can be very tough if you both constantly want to rip each other’s clothes off and get down to business,” he said.

And if you’re having to hold out because your Olympian soul mate is abstaining while they compete then the ‘best thing to do is sort yourself out’.
