A licensed doctor has revealed some truths about a superfood which could have a huge impact on your overall health.
It's 2025 and it feels like we're living in the age of self-love, whether it be exercise, food, or even skin care - and it's not a bad thing.
Far from it, as it feels like more people than ever before are living their lives with health at the forefront, so you're probably familiar with the term 'superfood'.
This encompasses foods that are rich in nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, fibre, and antioxidants, which do more than nourish us - they add health benefits and can even help to prevent diseases.

Apparently, the easily-accessible, affordable superfood can provide numerous benefits to both men and women if they are regularly taken by the individual, and it's au naturel.

What is the superfood?
It's called fenugreek, and it has been used in alternative medicine for thousands of years.
Known scientifically as Trigonella foenum-graecum, it is actually a plant which can grow up to three feet tall. It has green leaves, small white flowers, and most importantly, small, golden-brown seeds.

This is the magic part of the plant, with some cultures even using the sweet, nutty-tasting herb as part of dishes to add some extra flavour.
It is consumed in differing amounts based on the benefits you're looking for, though it can range from a 250mg to anywhere around six grams.
Many recommend that you soak the fenugreek seeds overnight for the best results - but what can you expect the herbs to improve?
Increase in testosterone
Doctor Sethi, a licensed medical professional in the US, is known for his videos on health-related topics, and he confirmed that the supplement can increase testosterone.

According to healthline, it is one of the most common reasons men use fenugreek supplements, as some studies reveal that it can even increase libido.
A 2015 study revealed that taking 300mg of fenugreek everyday over eight weeks resulted in higher testosterone if combined with resistance training, along with a reduction in body fat compared to the control group.
Another from 2011 found that 600mg of fenugreek extract can affect sexual function and libido when combined with magnesium, zinc, and vitamin B6, while a 2020 study found that a group of men who took 600mg of a supplement containing fenugreek resulted in a decrease in body mass and body fat but an increase in lean mass, along with an increase in testosterone concentration.
It's noted, however, that more research is needed.

Increase in breastmilk production
The gastroenterologist and hepatologist said in the YouTube video that fenugreek can 'boost' breastmilk production in women, which is good to know for mothers who may struggle to produce sufficient amounts.

It may present a natural alternative to prescription drugs, but it still requires more delving into.
A 2015 study revealed that 78 mothers drinking herbal tea with fenugreek seeds saw an increase in breast milk production, while a 2011 study revealed that compared to groups who didn't have fenugreek tea, the group that had it produced 39ml more pumped breast milk (73ml compared to 34ml).
As part of a 2020 case-control study, mothers with newborns who were struggling to produced milk were given fenugreek-soaked water which resulted in a spike in milk production for the mums, as well as an increase in frequency of urination and higher weight gained among newborns.
Other benefits
The doctor claimed that fenugreek can help with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, appetite control, cholesterol levels, and minor issues such as heartburn.

Early research shows that diabetes and blood sugar levels can also be effected for the better, as the high fibre of fenugreek powder/seeds can support blood sugar management.
