iPhone users to see major updates on devices today

The iOS17 system software update is launching on iPhone today ahead of the release of iPhone 15 on Friday.

With the launch of iPhone 15 later this week, it's a really exciting time to be a fan of Apple and its products.

And even if you've decided the iPhone 15's price tag is a little steep right now to pick up the latest model, existing Apple users will have some new features to play with starting from today (18 September).

That is because Apple's latest major software update - iOS 17 - is launching on iPhone with a bunch of new features included.

An official description of iOS17 on the Apple website reads: "iOS 17 brings new features to enhance the things you do every day. Express yourself like never before when you call or message someone.

"Share content in convenient new ways. And do even more with new experiences for your iPhone."

As with most major software updates on iPhone, iOS17 includes a lot of new features, including an updated autocorrect.

This feature has been celebrated by Apple users across the land, as the iPhone keyboard will now learn how we like to chat.

Especially when trying to type out a quick message, there's nothing worse than our phones changing it to a word that really makes no sense in the context of the sentence.

Well, that should now be a thing of the past as iPhone should no longer be 'correcting' any vulgar vocabulary we may be using - such as the infamously irritating change from 'f**k' to 'duck'.

Any iPhone user will know how ducking annoying this has always been!

Another new feature included with iOS17 is standby mode, ideal for those who sleep with their iPhone in their bed.

Essentially, this new feature will turn your mobile device into a home hub-like assistant, as when it's charging and in landscape mode, it will display chosen widgets like the clock, calendar, photos and weather.

Interactive widgets are also coming in this update, essentially allowing users to have micro-limited versions of apps you can use right from the home screen.

Meanwhile, iOS17 will introduce customisable contact cards, while voicemails will now have live transcriptions.

As is with the majority of iPhone updates, extra measures have been taken with security, and the much-talked about mental health component on the Health App will be introduced.

This will allow users to track their mood and assess signs of anxiety and depression.

The update comes in a big week for Apple, with the company set to release their new phones and Apple Watches on Friday (22 September).

The phone will mark the latest generation of a device which changed the smartphone scene forever when it first rocked the world back in 2007 with the first ever iPhone.
