Spotify appears not to be working for many of its users after thousands reported issues with both of the website and the app.
The music player seems to be experiencing a major outage, with users all over the world reporting problems on the tracking website Downdetector.
According to the complaints, issues first began around 2pm UK time and 9am on the east coast of the United States — however, the issue does now appear to be resolved.
Taking to X, the Spotify Status account confirmed it was aware of some issues at 2.45pm today, writing: "We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!"

Many Spotify users took to the community page to complain, with several people commenting they were unable to login. Meanwhile, others said that once they finally accessed their accounts, all of their playlists had disappeared.

"It’s been an hour I’m trying to login, my phone number isn’t working my emails aren’t working there is no way where the customers can resolve their issues, either chat or call has to be provided. This is ridiculous," one frustrated user commented.
Another added: "First I was having an issue with the login then I reset the password and I then login just to find out that none of my playlists libraries are on my Spotify.app, my playlist is no longer there."
"The phone app gave me an error this morning ('something went wrong'). I deleted and reinstalled the app, but could not log in," a third wrote. "Got a reset email but was told the code expired seconds after getting the email. Spotify worked on my PC and through the Roku app."
Fortunately, the Spotify Status X account has since confirmed the issue has been resolved, and it appears users are now able to log in and access their accounts as normal.

"All clear," they wrote. "Thanks for your patience. If you're still having issues, you can find out more on this issue on our Community support thread."
While it seems the Spotify access issues were easily resolved, it has come fresh off the back of a number of huge internet outages sparking a worrying trend.
Earlier this month, Cloudflare joined the growing line of website platform providers to go dark, taking down thousands of websites all over the world with it.
Prior to that, Amazon Web Services suffered a disastrous outage, impacting a huge proportion of the internet.
