Piers Morgan has interviewed a myriad of people throughout his career - but he reckons he was in the presence of 'pure evil' when he sat down with one individual.

The broadcaster, who turned 61 on Monday (30 March), previously described the interviewee as 'the most dangerous person' he has ever encountered.

Which is saying something, considering some of the people he has grilled in front of cameras over the years.

Recently, Morgan walked out of an interview with HSTikkyTokky after the controversial influencer pushed his buttons, while he's also verbally sparred with Jake Paul in the past.

But it was in fact a young woman who managed to strike the fear of God into him during an interview that was aired in 2016.

As part of his ITV documentary series Killer Women, he visited the Hilltop Unit - a Texas prison for women that's located in Gatesville - to speak to Erin Caffey.

She was just 16-years-old when she manipulated her boyfriend Charlie Wilkinson, who was then 18, and his pal Charles Waid, then 20, to murder her entire family on 1 March, 2008.

The murder plot is said to have been hatched a month prior after Caffey's parents, Penny and Terry, told her she could not see Wilkinson.

Chillingly, Caffey was sat outside her family home in Alba, Texas, with a friend who was acting as the getaway driver while Wilkinson and Waid entered the property.

Inside, the killers horrifically shot mother-of-three Penny dead, while numerous shots were also fired at Terry. Horrifically, their eight-year-old son Tyler was stabbed to death and 13-year-old Matthew was fatally shot.

The Caffey family home was then set on fire - and despite being left for dead, Terry miraculously managed to escape the burning property through a window before dragging himself to safety.

The four teenagers responsible for the grisly crime were arrested soon after and told officials that Caffey was the mastermind behind the attack.

She was ultimately sentenced to life behind bars, with a minimum of at least 40 years, while Waid and Wilkinson were also sentenced to life. They escaped the death penalty at the request of Caffey's father.

While speaking to Morgan, Caffey claimed that the murders of her mum and brothers were a result of 'bad choices' and said she realised it was a 'stupid' idea in hindsight.

The inmate said: "I mean, for what? They weren’t beating me, they weren’t starving me to death. I had it made."

While discussing the shocking chat he had with Caffey during a 2016 appearance on Lorraine, Morgan said he was left haunted by her words.

"It's an extraordinary story," he said. "She basically masterminds the annihilation of her family. She sends in the boyfriend with his mate while she waits outside with the mate's girlfriend and they go in with machetes and guns.

"They kill the mother, they riddle the father with bullets, they go and kill the two younger brothers, and there was no warning, no suggestion of anything coming.

"And, you know, as I sat there, looking at her, I just thought, 'My God, you're probably the most dangerous person I've ever been this close to in my life'. And I have no explanation after an hour of interviewing her for why you did this."

He also added: "Now at what point does that go from just a misguided teenager to pure evil? I came to the conclusion that she was nearest to pure evil I've ever seen, because she seems so apparently normal."

Terry has forgiven his daughter and visits her in prison and previously stated that he 'honestly believes she was not the mastermind' behind the murders.

"This was a vulnerable 16-year-old girl with a controlling, psychopathic guy," the dad said. "I do forgive her. I have to forgive her."
