A mum has gone viral after sharing a hilarious picture of a 'venus fly trap' that her son had drawn, with other social media users joking that it looked more like a 'penis fly trap'.

We often find ourselves peering down at a picture a kid has scribbled and squinting at the lines to try and work out what on Earth we're looking at - tentatively cooing over the artwork of a 'lovely cat', only to be told it's actually a block of cheese wearing welly boots.

But one parent must of had a particularly tough challenge on her hands, when her son son created an accidentally phallic depiction of a plant.

Freelance journalist, author and podcast host Nell Frizzell posted a photo of her child's creation on Twitter, writing: "My son has drawn 'a Venus fly trap.'"

Of course, the picture resembled something a little more, ahem, anatomical, with two spiky spheres and a long, thick stem.

Frizzell's tweet ended up going viral, racking up more than 2,700 likes and countless comments from amused social media users.

"Penis fly trap more like!" one person quipped, with another adding: "I came here to make sure someone had done this joke."

Someone else commented: "If that doesn't get stuck to the fridge I will be deeply disappointed in you."

Another Twitter user wrote: "10/10, top trolling by the youngster!"

Many other parents flocked to the comments to share evidence of similarly questionable artistry from their kids.

"My son painted a 'fire breathing dragon' this week," one person replied.

A dad also posted a photo of a 2017 drawing their son had done, which was supposed to be a 'salmon'.

A third shared a masterpiece from their six-year-old:

Of course, if the picture doesn't end up on the fridge, another person put forward an equally brilliant suggestion for the image.

"There's shops on Etsy where you can get kids drawings made into necklace pendants - you could wish for this for Christmas...?" they wrote.
