Evri driver explains how much he makes per delivery leaving people stunned

The amount may surprise you

An Evri delivery driver has revealed how much he makes per parcel - and the amount has left people shocked.

Let's face it, no one is working harder than the postmen and delivery drivers who are tasked with shifting the nation's online orders before the big day arrives.

But while you're anxiously waiting by the door for your grandma's Christmas present to arrive, have you ever wondered how much these drivers are paid for doing the Lord's work?

Well, thankfully, one man who previously worked for Evri (previously known as Hermes) has been kind enough to spill the beans on how much you can delivering parcels.

Sharing a video on YouTube last year, creator @Its__Isaac talked about his experience working as a self-employed courier between December 2022 -January 2023.

In the video, Isaac explains that he was paid on a per parcel basis for his work, which can vary depending on the size of the delivery.

"You’re getting 50p a collection - no matter what you’re collecting. A Postable gets you 38p, despite some Postables not being able to be actually posted," he explained.

For those unfamiliar with the Evri lingo, a 'Postable' is a parcel or large letter which is small enough to fit through your letter box.

"You get 47p per packet that you deliver and there’s going to be a lot of packets.

"And your standard box gets you about 63p, unless it’s heavy or you have to use two hands because then it’s a pound."

How how much money does this translate to in a day?

Isaac explained that he was able to deliver around 130-150 during a six hour workday, which came to about £60-£80 depending on parcel size.

"Being self employed teaches you self-worth. If you want to earn as much as you think you’re worth, then be prepared to work as hard as you can," he added.

Which certainly explains why some delivery drivers are happy to fling a parcel in the broad direction of your house and speed off.

It's also worth pointing out that being a self employed courier isn't the only way you can work for Evri, with their website pointing out that drivers can also be ad-hoc couriers as well as working as part of a larger courier business.

When it comes to how much you're eligible earn Evri states that drivers are paid on an hourly basis and have the chance to earn a 'competitive rate' hourly rate.

In comparison, Amazon pays their delivery drivers in 'blocks' of two to four hours, with an estimated rate of pay shown to the driver before they pick the shift up.

An Evri spokesperson previously told LADbible: “Couriers are at the heart of our business and all of Evri’s people are paid above the National Living Wage, with the average courier pay in excess of £17 per hour.

"Evri is committed to good employment practices, and it was this commitment that led us to be the first parcel company to introduce holiday pay, the right to guaranteed pay, an automatic pension scheme and parental leave for our couriers.

"If any courier feels that they have received pay which is different from what they were expecting, we ask that they contact their manager so that we can look into this immediately.”
