A prison officer has been found guilty of two counts of misconduct in public office after being caught having sex with an inmate in the 'prayer room' of HMP Coldingley.

Isabelle Dale, 23, had the nickname of 33-year-old inmate Shahid Sharif tattooed on the back of her neck, 'Sneaks', and gave herself the nickname 'Miss Sneaky'.

Southwark Crown Court heard that two other inmates allegedly stood outside the room as lookouts and several minutes later Dale and convicted robber Sharif were seen leaving the room with her adjusting her belt.

The jury heard that love letters addressed to 'Sneaky' were found in Sharif's cell.

At the same time jurors were told she was having a sexual relationship with another inmate, 28-year-old Connor Money who is imprisoned for his involvement in a fatal car crash while attempting to evade the police.

Sharif was later moved to HMP Swaleside but she continued to send him letters which the court was told were laced with drugs.

Dale denied having sex with Sharif or smuggling drugs, but she was convicted of two counts of misconduct in public office, with Judge Chris Hehir saying: "I can see no alternative to a substantial custodial sentence."

Dale will be sentenced in January.
