Brits warned to do one thing in nuclear attack as Russia sends chilling threat to strike 23 UK locations

Safety advice has been issued after more threats from Russia

A security expert has issued a warning to Brits following threats that Russia could target 23 locations across the nation.

Last week, a number of influential figures at the Kremlin spoke about the potential of taking over mainland Europe and striking specific areas of the UK in yet another threat.

Russian Senator Dmitry Rogozin revealed a map highlighting the 23 sites Vladimir Putin apparently had in mind when it comes to launching missiles towards the UK, as he claimed that the country could become 'deadly dangerous'.

Tensions in Eastern Europe are showing no signs of slowing down, with Donald Trump's attempts to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine proving unsuccessful.

The Kremlin also recently flew drones into its neighbouring nations' airspaces, with ones in Poland being shot down while military aircraft were also spotted in Estonia.

The fact of the matter is that World War 3 seems to be becoming more of a possibility every day, according to some, as Russian State TV host Vladimir Solovyov admitted that Ukraine was 'never the goal', suggesting that the nation could take the conflict further.

While he has threatened the UK before, his claims came after Rogozin's reveal of the map and the UK's 23 'targeted' locations, which include the likes of Barrow, Plymouth, and Glasgow, among other areas, due to their military bases.

Solovyov even claimed that Brits will 'just get what's coming to them', though there are apparently some places you'd prefer to be at if warheads were launched at us.

A security expert has since warned Brits to do one thing in preparation for the worst case scenario.

Dr Arnab Basu, CEO of Kromek Group, told the Mirror: "For those outside the immediate blast zone, the priority is to get to shelter quickly, ideally the most central part of a building. Seal windows and doors with tape to reduce radioactive dust entering."

A quick search on Amazon reveals that the tape can be bought for £4, while similar products are available for more from other retailers.

Many may want to leave home and seek shelter elsewhere, but Dr Basu says that if there were a nuclear strike on the UK, you'd want to remain in the 'most central part of your shelter' for about two to three days.

"Survival depends less on fleeing and more on shielding yourself from fallout, limiting exposure and relying on stored resources until immediate radiation levels begin to fall," he added.

This comes months after the UK government outlined a list of essentials which households are recommended to stock up on, as ministers urged Brits to 'get prepared' for emergencies.

These include:

  • Battery powered or wind-up torch
  • Spare batteries
  • A first-aid kit
  • Battery or wind-up radio
  • Medication
  • Bottled water - the World Health Organisation recommends an absolute minimum of 2.5-3 litres of drinking water per person per day, however 10 litres per person per day would be ideal
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Copies of important documents
  • Warm clothing
  • Personal hygiene items
