Tommy Robinson will not face charges over alleged assault at London Tube station

The controversial activist, real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, will not face any charges

Tommy Robinson will not face any charges over an alleged assault at London's St Pancras station.

The controversial far-right activist, real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, reportedly fled the country after footage claiming to show the aftermath of the incident went viral.

Video captured him at the scene of the alleged attack on 28 July, while an unconscious man could be seen lying face down in the background.

In the footage, Robinson could be heard shouting: "He f*****g came at me, bruv. He come at me bruv, you saw that."

After the clip began circulating across social media, the 42-year-old reportedly boarded a flight, prompting police to launch a manhunt.

On 4 August, the British Transport Police confirmed a man had been arrested in connection to the assault and the following day, Robinson shared a video addressing the incident.

After being released on bail following his arrest, he claimed that he had 'defended himself' in St Pancras station.

Robinson told his supporters it had been 'one of the worst weeks' of his life, adding: "I was worried, very worried, I thought I was being stitched up."

Speaking to followers on X, he addressed the incident itself, claiming: "If someone comes up and wants to accost me, confront me and attempt to attack me I'm within my rights to defend myself.

"And what my request would be right now is release the footage for the public to see. Everyone needs to see the footage, not just that little clip, you need to see the footage."

The British Transport Police (BTP) presented a file of evidence to prosecutors over the incident on 28 July, with the video of Robinson pacing around near a man lying face down on the floor.

But on Wednesday (27 August), the force said that the Crown Prosecution Service concluded that there was not enough evidence to bring charges.

BTP did not name Robinson, but released a statement which said: “Following a report of an assault at St Pancras station on July 28, detectives from BTP quickly launched a full and thorough investigation, which involved a 42-year-old man being arrested on suspicion of GBH at Luton Airport on August 4.

“Officers worked at pace to gather evidence, including CCTV footage and witness statements, however, the victim did not wish to provide a statement to the investigation.

“We presented the prosecution file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) – who are responsible for considering the evidence available and deciding whether it meets the legal threshold to charge someone with an offence.

“Following a review of the available evidence, the CPS concluded that there was not a realistic prospect of conviction and therefore there would be no criminal charges in this case.”

It is understood that the victim does not want to pursue charges, and according to reports, CCTV footage showed him initially following Robinson as the activist walked away, before he was hit.
