Tommy Robinson speaks out after being detained following incident at London tube station

Tommy Robinson has addressed the video of him in St Pancras station on 28 July

Tommy Robinson has addressed the controversial incident which took place at a London tube station on 28 July.

The far-right activist, real name Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, is said to have left the country after the incident at St Pancras Station.

In the video, an unconscious man can be seen face down at the station.

Robinson claims that he 'defended himself' after being released on bail following his arrest.

It is currently unclear what led to this attack, or what happened during it, though yesterday (4 August) the British Transport Police confirmed a man had been arrested in connection to the assault.

The viral video has continued to do the rounds in the days since the incident, as officers confirmed last week that a 42-year-old man from Bedfordshire who investigators wanted to 'bring into custody for questioning' had left the country in the aftermath.

Robinson was released from prison in May this year after being sentenced to 18 months for contempt of court in October 2024.

In Robinson's latest video, he claims that it has been 'one of the worst weeks' of his life, adding: "I was worried, very worried, I thought I was being stitched up."

Speaking to followers on X, he addressed the incident itself, claiming: "If someone comes up and wants to accost me, confront me and attempt to attack me I'm within my rights to defend myself."

He added that he was detained and interviewed upon being arrested yesterday (4 August), as he urged: "And what my request would be right now is release the footage for the public to see.

"Everyone needs to see the footage, not just that little clip, you need to see the footage."

The 42-year-old also addressed 'the media', who he said claimed he was 'on the run'.

Robinson said he contacted the police 'straight away' and made them aware of his trip, his accommodation, and his return date, adding that all of this was planned before he allegedly fled the country.

"Before this incident, I had a trip planned - fact," Robinson stated, before explaining: "If I had tried to escape the country, like the media have told you, if I went on the run, like the media have told you, I wouldn't have my passport would I?"

Robinson also claimed that he 'arranged to come back' and even changed his flight 'for the police' as he was cooperating with them the whole time.

He claimed he was originally flying into Manchester, but changed his return flight and was taken aback by the number of cars and attention waiting for him at Luton Airport.
