Horrifying moment Winter Wonderland ride malfunctions leaving people hanging in the air

Footage of the incident has gone viral

Over the festive period, there is one place in England that you can almost guarantee will bring you the best Christmassy time.

However, that wasn’t the case for these unlucky visitors who ended up in a tight spot.

If you’ve never been to the amazing Winter Wonderland, you won’t know about what it entails.

From yummy food, festive music, fake snow and theme-park style rides, it has just about everything for a family to enjoy.

But unfortunately, in a shocking incident, a Winter Wonderland ride malfunctioned during its run, which left those strapped in hanging upside down for eight minutes.

This might be every person’s nightmare since watching the Final Destination franchise, that something will just go terribly wrong.

However, many also enjoy the thrill of the adrenaline rush (I absolutely do not).

According to reports, the ride stopped working during its spin which left customers suspended in the air.

The London incident was captured by someone there and was posted to X, formerly Twitter, which shows exactly how it happened.

In the video, you can see the ride, which has a long rotating arm at either end.

It is able to lift people 65 metres high in the sky before flipping them upside down in a crazy rush of excited screams.

It’s also clearly shown to be stuck, with what seems to be customers looking down below as they are unable to escape.

The horror-fuelled event was quickly talked about by social media users who couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

One person wrote: "Welp, cancelling my plans there for today."

Another user commented: "Naaa, thanks, but no thanks. Too old for this sort of situations. Mulled wine and German sausage baps for me."

Someone else added: “Would have fainted if I experienced that.”

A Winter Wonderland spokesperson told The Sun: "We can confirm that the Blizzard ride had a power outage that lasted eight minutes on the evening of December 30.

"The issue was handled quickly by the ride operators and customer services and the riders were safely escorted off the ride.

“The safety of our visitors is our top priority and all of our rides undergo rigorous and regular safety checks by experienced members of staff.”

Winter Wonderland is a yearly event in Hyde Park and is a major attraction for those wanting to feel a little more Christmassy.

It’s just a shame those on the ride had to experience the malfunction.

LADbible has contacted Winter Wonderland for comment.
