Jimmy Fallon has called out the suspension of fellow TV host and friend Jimmy Kimmel while giving an update on his own show.
Kimmel's show on Wednesday night was cancelled in the wake of his comments about the alleged Charlie Kirk shooter Tyler Robinson, although he has long been critical of president Donald Trump, both on his live show and on his social media.
On his shows earlier this week, the 57-year-old comedian made comments about the 22-year-old, who was recently charged with aggravated murder and told that he could face the death penalty if he is found guilty.
Kimmel said: "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid [Robinson] who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it.

"In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving. On Friday, the White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism. But on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this..."

His comments were described as offensive and insensitive and Sinclair, the broadcasting company which owns ABC news, later put out a statement, suggesting the 'meaningful' way in which he can get back on air.
And now Fallon has confirmed if the alarming censorship will impact his own stance, while speaking on Thursday night's episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
He said: “Well guys, the big story is that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by ABC, after pressure from the FCC leaving everyone thinking, ‘WTF.'

"But to be honest with you all, I don’t know what’s going on — no one does. But I do know Jimmy Kimmel, and he is a decent, funny, and loving guy. And I hope he comes back.”

Fallon then suggested that his own coverage of the president wouldn't change, despite the apparent threat of suspension or cancellation should he say something that those in government do not like.
He added: “A lot of people are worried that we won’t keep saying what we want to say, or that we’ll be censored, but I’m going to cover the President’s trip to the UK, just like I normally would."
Fallon went on to joke about Trump's appearance at the recent State Banquet and joked that he should be nominated for a Nobel Peace prize.

The 79-year-old president has made it clear that he isn't happy with the jokes that Kimmel and Fallon make on their shows, branding them 'talentless' and sending them a chilling warning earlier this year.
And after Kimmel's controversial cancellation, Fallon may need to watch his own words, or risk following in his fellow TV host's footsteps, in what is a worrying censorship of free speech and opinion in the US.
