The White House has issued a demand to the Nobel Foundation after last year's peace prize winner gifted him her medal.
Donald Trump had made it very clear he really wanted to win the Nobel Peace Prize, to the point that FIFA made up their own just so he could have one, but last year's went to María Corina Machado of Venezuela for her part in promoting democracy in the country.
That would be the same Venezuela whose president Trump abducted at the beginning of 2026, there maybe few tears shed for Nicolas Maduro but Trump later posted a fake Wikipedia page which listed himself as the 'Acting President of Venezuela'.
Machado, who was in hiding at the time she won her Nobel Peace Prize, has since shown up at the White House in order to present her accolade to Trump, so he now does own one of the awards even if it isn't actually his.

The Nobel Peace Center has been clear that even if she's handed over her award, it doesn't mean Trump has earned the prize he how holds.

However, he's still eager for some recognition as White House Communications Director Steven Cheung demanded that the Nobel Foundation at least gives the US president some recognition for his 'unprecedented accomplishments'.
Cheung said Trump 'rightfully deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for bringing peace to at least eight wars'.
Those would be conflicts between Israel and Hamas, Israel and Iran, Pakistan and India, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Thailand and Cambodia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Egypt and Ethiopia along with a claim he prevented Serbia and Kosovo from going to war.

However, Trump's claims that he's ended 'at least eight wars' seem wide of the mark as in many cases, the countries involved have said the US didn't have as large a role as claimed in negotiations or fighting has continued after a ceasefire agreement was signed.
The BBC reports that in many cases, these conflicts only lasted a few days, never ended up becoming wars and in once case, there as no fighting at all to stop.

Trump has also struggled to live up to his claim that he's the 'president of peace' given his hostile actions towards other countries including missile strikes on Iran, the aforementioned abduction of another head of state and his latest insistence that the US will take over Greenland regardless of what the people living there want.
Then, of course, there's the chaos in his own country at the moment.

Meanwhile, Trump has linked his lack of Nobel prize to his more aggressive push for Greenland.
In a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre he wrote: "Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper' for the US."
