I think most of us can admit we've been sucked in by false advertising, buying something online only for it two arrive three to five working days later and it looks like nothing like the photo.

One fish shop in Kuwait has reportedly been closed down by authorities for using plastic googly eyes on their fish to make them look fresher for shoppers.

Kuwaiti newspaper Al Bayan first shared the photos of the fish eyes before they were picked up by Mohamed El Dashan who tweeted the funny pictures and quickly went viral.

Naturally, social media users thought it was pretty bloody hilarious with one writing: "If you can't stop laughing is it really a crime?" and another adding: "I feel like this should be allowed due to sheer ballsyness."

A third wrote: "If this was America we'd be praising these guys and calling them entrepreneurs." Hm, I'm not so sure about that, can you imagine someone going on Shark Tank with this as their business idea?

One man offered this saga advice: "Never judge the freshness of fish by the googliness of their eyes."

Wherever you stand on the googly eye/risk of food poisoning saga, it's been a very good day for puns:

So many fish puns:

They just keep going:

Thanks, Twitter.
