Woman who married double murderer without meeting him explains why she's leaving him

She said her perspective changed after watching a Netflix programme.

A British woman who married an American double murderer without having met him has explained why she's leaving her husband.

Naomi Oquendo, 27, tied the knot with convicted murderer Victor Oquendo, 31, via Zoom after the pair 'fell' in love during lockdown.

Despite the fact that they had never met, she was prepared to wait over a decade for her husband's release, asserting that he committed his crimes in an act of self defence.

However, after meeting in person for the first time last month, Naomi has taken to TikTok to explain why she has now separated from her husband.

She revealed that she has not 'got a bad word to say' about him and she never will, but she decided to leave - for now - because her needs were not being met.

"I believe whole heartedly, he is my soulmate, he is my other half, and we are made for each other. However, sometimes love is not enough," she said.

"I had reached a point where I was pouring everything I had into fixing and helping him that I completely lost myself.

"I believe in a partnership, things should be equal, and as much as you give, you should receive, and I didn't feel like I was getting that anymore."

Naomi went on to explain that the turning point for her was when she saw a Netflix programme where it was said that someone should love you as much as you love yourself.

However, despite the fact that she is now separated from her husband, Naomi is keeping his last name and is hopeful that they will eventually reconcile.

She wrote on TikTok: "I'll forever love him & hold his last name. There's no one else I want to be with, I hope we get our happy ending."

Naomi previously opened up about her relationship with Victor on This Morning, where she described her husband as 'selfless' and the 'kindest person'.

"All of his life, he's just wanted love," Naomi said. "He didn't get it from his mother. He didn't get it from his father, who sadly passed away.

"His whole life, he's been looking for someone who is actually going to love him and look after him. Make him feel safe.

"I think when he met me, and I fell for him as hard as he fell for me, y'know, he says it all the time, he doesn't know how he deserved it."

LADbible has reached out to Naomi for comment.
