Newly emerged footage has revealed an apparent new tactic from Iran, which could have ramifications for the whole world.

Ever since the US and Israel began a war on Iran by firing missiles towards the nation on 28 February, the region has been plagued by conflict.

The Middle Eastern nation retaliated by striking Israel and nearby countries in the region, with US military bases usually the target.

Strikes from the US eventually killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, among numerous back-and-forth strikes, as many nearby nations closed their airspaces for safety reasons.

Airports, US embassies and landmark hotels across the Middle East have been hit with retaliatory drone strikes, resulting in thousands being stranded on their travels.

Trump has claimed that the war with Iran is now 'very complete' following a call with Russia's Vladimir Putin, but it's now been claimed that a new tactic is being used.

The US president had claimed: "Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones. If you look, they have nothing left. There's nothing left in a military sense."

But this may be far from the case, despite his 'surrender or die' threat, as a new video has surfaced online, revealing clouds of black smoke coming from the blaze of a ship carrying cargo.

The fire raged on, as it has been reported that Tehran is now targeting oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, as they continue to limit the use of the Hormuz Strait.

Reports state that one crew member was killed when the tankers were attacked, as Iran continues to cause an economic headache for the rest of the world by blocking the shipping lane, which helps to transport a fifth of the world's crude oil supply.

Farhan al-Fartousi, Iraq's director general of the General Company for Ports, said that the horrific incident took place when ships were operating in Iraqi territorial waters.

He explained: “Two foreign tankers carrying Iraqi fuel oil were subjected to unidentified attacks inside territorial waters, causing them to catch fire.”

This new tactic is another targeting of the popular trade route to inflict more pain on the West, increasing the value of oil barrels once again.

Al-Fartousi confirmed the tankers were targeted by Iranian boats, which contained numerous explosives, as Iraqi officials moved to evacuate the crews from both vessels as flames raged on.

25 people were safely evacuated as emergency teams worked to stop the fire from spreading beyond the tankers.

Early this morning (12 March), a fire also reportedly broke out on a third container ship off the coast of the UAE after an 'unknown projectile' struck.

Iraqi officials have now confirmed that all oil ports have halted operations, though commercial ports will continue to function despite these actions.

Oil prices skyrocket as tensions in the Strait of Hormuz continue

As a result of the limitations placed on the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices have skyrocketed beyond $100 (£75) per barrel again, as vessels have been moved out of the area as a precaution.

The Independent reports that Iran has warned the world to prepare for oil to sit at $200 (£149) per barrel.

Trump had claimed earlier this week that US forces knocked out 16 Iranian mine-laying ships in the Strait of Hormuz, after the president warned Iran of placing mines in the crucial waterway.

CNN reported that Iran has placed 'a few dozen mines' in the region, with 'the capability to sow hundreds more'.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had claimed that not 'one litre of oil' would be allowed through the strait, unless Trump stopped his attacks.

Taking to Truth Social, the president said: "If Iran has put out any mines in the Hormuz Strait, and we have no reports of them doing so, we want them removed, IMMEDIATELY!"

The US military has also shared video footage of them taking out the mine-laying vessels in the area.
