Controversial streamer Johnny Somali is facing potential jail time in South Korea and now his mother is getting involved in the legalities.
The 25-year-old has become well known online thanks to his disruptive content, which often sees him cause nuisance and havoc while on his travels.
According to a December report from The Japan Times, Asian countries were always planning to clamp down on live streamers in 2026 and now Somali, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, finds himself facing several charges in South Korea.
In fact, he's effectively been stuck in the East Asian country since 2024 after he was banned from leaving following the allegations that were made against him, which included him causing a scene inside a restaurant, playing north Korean propaganda music in public and other disturbances, which even saw him knocked out by a former NAVY seal.

A prolonged court process has followed, with prosecutors seeking a three-year prison sentence with manual labor, as well as a small fine. He could even be registered on the sex offenders list, which would have consequences for him when he is eventually allowed back into America.

Somali said: “I did some foolish things under the influence of alcohol, and I realise the consequences. I sincerely apologise for this. Having been born and raised in the United States, I did not realise how serious the consequences of these actions, which would not be illegal in the United States, could be in Korea.”
However, these words reportedly just angered the judge further, with the young streamer arguing that he was treated unfairly by police when asked about the most serious charge that was brought against him, which allegedly saw him distribute AI deepfakes of Bongbong - the Korean streamer, rather than the president of the Philippines.

“The law is unfair, since the police didn’t do anything when I tried to report Bongbong, and I’m asking for the law to apply it fairly,” he said. “I’m still young, and I want to see my family and go home. Please show me leniency.”
His mother has now got involved and also pleaded with the judge for leniency despite her son's erratic actions which some might argue have simply led to the chickens coming home to roost.
According to lawyer and YouTuber Legal Mindset: “RKI’s mother submitted a petition, likely an apology on his behalf, today with court. Due to timing and Ramsey’s behaviour, it’s highly unlikely this is taken seriously by the judge.”
The streamer is set to be sentenced in April.
He isn't the only online persona to find themselves in trouble with the law however, as looksmaxxing influencer Clavicular was arrested on a battery charge in Florida last week.
