Scientists make major discovery at site of Noah’s Ark that could prove story is true

Evidence correlating to The Book of Genesis appears to be present on Mount Arabat

Scientists in Turkey have discovered something major at the mythic site of Noah's Ark that could prove all the doubters wrong.

The well-trodden biblical tale, which was dramatised in a 2014 movie starring Russell Crowe and Emma Watson, sees God instructing a man named Noah to craft a wooden ark big enough to house two of every animal species - plus his family, of course - ahead of the Great Flood that would last 150 days.

Fast-forward to 1959 when a Turkish army captain happened across a geological formation, the Durupınar site, resembling what's believed to be the final resting place of Noah's vessel atop Mount Ararat.

The most undeniably compelling component of this find is that the Durupınar shape perfectly matches the dimensions purported in The Book of Genesis 6:15.

Speaking to The Christian Broadcasting Network, Noah's Ark Scans researcher Andrew Jones claims that their ground-penetrating radar (GPR) has now encountered possible evidence of side corridors running through the boat.

"We're not expecting something that's fully preserved. What's left is the chemical imprint, pieces of wood and in the ground, the shape of a hall," he said.

Noah's Ark Scans had previously detected an apparent 13-foot tunnel cutting through the formation's centre. Scans captured three layers below the earth as well, matching the Bible's description of the ark featuring as many decks.

A section of Genesis 6:16 reads: "Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above, and set the door of the ark in its side. Make it with lower, second, and third decks."

"This is not what you'd expect to see if the site were simply a solid block of rock or the result of random mudflow debris," added Jones, referring to external theories.

"But it is exactly what you'd expect to find if this were a man-made boat, consistent with the biblical specifications of Noah's Ark."

The team noticed that the grass growing within the site is a different colour compared to what's outside of it, too.

Meanwhile, William Crabtree of Noah's Ark Scans also suggested this tunnel appears to run from the tip of the site towards the middle, which is large enough to walk through.

On the soil analysis they've been conducting, he said: "The potassium levels inside are also about 40 percent higher. If you know soil science - as I'm a soil scientist - you'll understand that potassium levels, organic matter, and pH can all be influenced by decaying organic material.

"If this was a wooden boat and the wood had rotted over time, we would expect to see elevated levels of potassium, changes in pH, and higher organic content - and that's exactly what we're finding."

For Jones and his fellow researchers, a full excavation could be on the cards.
