But, the 42-year-old star hit the headlines for the wrong reasons recently after his long-lasting endorsement deal with Mastercard was suspended. 

After McDowell and many others defected to the Saudi-backed circuit, LIV, the PGA Tour has suspended them from playing. Following this, Mastercard has decided to pause their 12-year relationship due to “uncertainties around their standing”.

In fact, McDowell is now set to make even more per year after he made the controversial decision to join the LIV tour.

So far in his career, McDowell has picked up eleven wins on the European Tour, four wins on the PGA tour and in 2011, Mcdowell was even honoured with an MBE for his services to golf.

He is such a devoted Manchester United fan that he actually skipped the annual par-3 contest to watch his side in their 2011 Champions League fixture against Chelsea!
