Wrexham fans are begging Ryan Reynolds to buy star-player Erling Haaland after selling his mobile phone company for a hefty pay check.

The hype first began after it was announced that T-Mobile is now set to acquire Mint Mobile - the a wireless mobile network operator company Reynolds part-owns.

It had since been confirmed that the Deadpool star will be taking home over £1 billion following the business deal, and many fans have already starting theorising what the actor should spend it on.

In case you didn't know, Reynolds and fellow actor, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney, first bought Wrexham football club in November 2020 after revealing their interest in the team a few months beforehand.

The two stars announced their new venture in a video shared on the official Wrexham FC Twitter page and fans haven't stopped talking about the unlikely - but very welcomed nonetheless - crossover between one of Hollywood's finest and the Welsh club.

The pair went on to star in a docu-series about their unlikely ownership of Wrexham AFC football club, with an official synopsis reading: "Welcome to Wrexham is a docuseries tracking the dreams and worries of Wrexham, a working-class town in North Wales, UK, as two Hollywood stars take ownership of the town’s historic yet struggling football club."

Flash-forward a few years and Reynolds is still happily heading the fifth tier football club, and the actor has clearly got his foot in many ponds.

One of which being his minority ownership stake in the mobile network operator company too.

As reported by Variety, T-Mobile is set to pay 39 percent cash and 61 percent stock to acquire the Corp, totalling a maximum of $1.35 billion (£1.12 billion) to the star.

Now, while Reynolds may see that as some extra cash to put away for good measure to splash out on his ever-growing family - it's clear that Wrexham fans definitely knew what they'd do with the billion-pound earnings.

An avalanche of footy fans have since flocked to Twitter upon hearing the news of Reynold's latest paycheck, begging the actor to buy Norwegian professional footballer, Erling Braut Haaland.

Haaland currently plays as a striker for Premier League club Manchester City and the Norway national team, and is widely heralded as one of the best players in the world.

Best known for his speed, strength, and finishing inside the box - it's no wonder why Wrexham fans have been so pushy.

Keeping it short, sweet and punchy, many just echoed: "Haaland to Wrexham!"

Fans flocked to Twitter with their demands.

Another Twitter user wrote: "Sweet. Hopefully, Wrexham will buy Haaland next window."

Taking it one step further, a third added: "Bodes well for Wrexham's chances of signing Haaland and Mbappe next year."

Talk about a dream team.

While Reynolds himself has not yet responded to such demands, it's fair to say that even just the prospect of Haaland joining the Dragons, while highly unlikely, is enough to send any footy fan into a frenzy.

Exciting stuff ahead, indeed.
