Universal Studios Nintendo Themed Land Under Construction
If you've ever enjoyed a game of Mario Kart so much that you wished you could be zooming down Rainbow Road yourself, your prayers are set to be answered.
Nintendo has enjoyed a hugely healthy profit this year, thanks to the immense success of its latest console, the Switch. Yet licencing the Nintendo brand out across a variety of formats is set to net the Japanese gaming giants an even bigger slice of revenue in the upcoming years.
As well as the excitement of a Mario movie in pre-production, construction has begun on the sites of a number of Nintendo themed lands in various Universal Studios theme parks.
In a deal similar to Warner Brothers' Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park spaces, which currently feature at Universal Orlando, Japan and Hollywood, Nintendo will be set to own an entire area of theme parks at various Universal sites. Construction is underway for Super Mario Worlds at the Hollywood and Japanese parks with a third site set for the Orlando destination.
Speaking in an Industry Focus podcast for Motley Fool, a financial service company, finance expert Dan Kline explained why these parks were set to add to Nintendo's high value stock.
"We know there will be a Mario Kart ride. About a month ago it became public that Universal Studios is building a fourth gate, another theme park, and they've amassed a big chunk of land to do that. It's very logical to think that Nintendo is going to be the cornerstone, the Harry Potter of this new park," he said. Exciting news for fans of the gaming giants!
What other Nintendo themed rides could be set to open up across these parks? Might revellers find themselves inside a giant Tetris block? A Smash Bros competition? Roaming through Hyrule with Link to find Zelda?
