Dog And Dolphin's Beautiful Friendship Goes Viral

Dog And Dolphin's Beautiful Friendship Goes Viral

It's often said that humans can learn a lot from animals. It's pretty much perfect timing, then - as the world increasingly feels like imploding on a daily basis - for photos to emerge of a pure, unadulterated friendship between a dolphin and a dog. Yes, you read that right.

A number of pictures of Gunner the dog and Delta the dolphin are going viral after they were shared online - and for good reason. Because they're some of the most heartwarming photos you'll ever see.

Especially one shared by Twitter user Ken, which shows the golden retriever licking his friend. The and the world definitely needs that right now.

The photo - which was accompanied with the caption 'sorry to interrupt, important news - was posted on June 17 and in under a week has racked up a staggering 1.3 million likes and has been shared almost 242,000 times. Which just goes to show how far a little bit of love can go.

Dog Gets Confused By Owner's Reflection During Game Of Hide And Seek

After the photo went viral, it was revealed by Twitter account We Rate Dogs, that Delta the dolphin has been friends with Gunner since the latter was just a tiny puppy.

Gunner is now seven years old and Delta is 10, but the Dolphin Research Centre in Florida, where the latter lives, shared a photo of the pair when Gunner was just eight weeks old and Delta was four. It is, unsurprisingly, also impossibly sweet.

Unsurprisingly, there were plenty of reactions online to the unlikely couple's solid friendship, but some took offense to the fact that Delta appeared to be a dolphin in captivity.

They're right, of course, but let's not distract from the heart of the story - namely that we all wish we could find a love like that.
