A man has discovered dozens of underground tunnels and hidden rooms in his house after looking at old photos. Watch here:

Freddy Gooddall, from Sussex, UK, was flicking through photos of his family's 500-year-old home when he noticed a doorway in the library, which was added in the 19th Century.

However, the property developer couldn't see the same doorway in the room now.

The 23-year-old said: "I searched for it but couldn't see anything at first, then realised it was hidden behind a bookshelf.

"Eventually behind one of the books, I found a hole that looked into the hidden room."

In a TikTok video - which has been viewed more than 4.5 million views - Freddy is seen clearing the books off the shelves before removing the screws on the front-facing wooden panel.

After lifting the panel away, he was shocked to find a dark, empty room behind the piece of furniture.

Noticing another panel on the floor, he lifts it to find a secret passageway leading to underground rooms.

From here he finds a whole host of further passageways and rooms - as well as a massive wasp nest and a safe.

The latter contains books dating back to 1848, filled with information about the house and some letters.

Freddy also found old school books and desks used in the 1900s, when the property was an educational institution.

As for what all the hidden passages are about, Freddy reckons they were used by servants in the 1800s.

He said: "I was excited to find something new in a house I have lived in for so long. It was pitch black so very creepy at first.

"I believe they were servant passages that run under the house and they used this to get back and forth from their quarters without being noticed.

"Some of the underground rooms have been built over the top of, as one has flagstones, which we believe is where they kept the horses.

"I left the rooms as they were, I like that they have been the same for hundreds of years, there is so much history to be found in each room."

People on TikTok seemed to find the videos more terrifying than fascinating, though.

One person commented: "I immediately would have called the cops on my own house."

Another said: "U need to run outa that house it's soo haunted live with ur mom ur something."

A third added: "Mans found the chamber of secrets."
