People who've seen the results of a face-lift given to a 70-year-old man said he looked like he'd been 'given a whole new identity' after the results of his surgery were shown.
New York City-based plastic surgeon Dr Ramtin Kassir posted the results of the man's face-lift online and showed what had been done to change his visage.
Dr Kassir said he was going to do something called a 'deep plane face-and-neck-lift', noting that the man 'had a lot of weight loss' which left him holding a lot more skin in his face than he needed.

The 70-year-old man 'disliked the tired, ageing look' and his total list of treatments included a revision deep plane face and neck lift, revision upper and lower blepharoplasty, endoscopic forehead and brow lift, septo-rhinoplasty, CO2 laser resurfacing, fat transfer to face and chin augmentation.
After showing off the 'after surgery' picture people praised the 'natural looking results' and the 'best male face-lift' they had ever seen.
Others said he 'looks years younger' and 'almost a totally different man', and that he 'looks refreshed, not overdone'.
There was plenty of praise for how natural the man looked after getting plastic surgery, as a common complaint (besides the cost) is that the person getting the procedure often appears to have fallen down the Uncanny Valley.

There are a number of times where people have gone under the knife and come out looking entirely different, and this is one of those cases.
So, what exactly is a face-lift and how does it work?

A face-lift, also known as a 'rhytidectomy', lifts up and pulls back the skin of your face to give you a different appearance.
It typically focuses on loose skin that is sagging down on your face and lifts it back up with the intention of making you appear younger.

In most cases the patient will be placed under general anaesthetic as their face will be cut open several times during the process of rearrangement.
Depending on the procedure and what the plastic surgeon decides needs doing you could end up having skin sliced off and fat reallocated to other parts of your face in order to craft a new appearance.
It's a very costly procedure, and while you'll be under the knife for a few hours you will likely have to stay in hospital overnight and take special care for your recovery.
How much does a face-lift cost?

According to Dr Kassir, getting this kind of surgery in New York City will set you back somewhere between $20,000 (£14,800) and a whopping $80,000 (£59,000).
However, according to the NHS the cost of getting something like this done in the UK can range from 'a few thousand pounds' if you want a 'mini face-lift' up to £10,000 for the full works on your face and neck.
It's worth noting that the cost will vary significantly depending on the procedure you get done and which clinic you go to.

Indeed, looking around various clinics, several places based in the UK are quoting prices some way above the £10,000 figure the NHS suggested.

The Cadogan Clinic, for example, says a face-and-neck-lift will set you back around £15,000, while Kensington Medical says prices for its most extensive face-lift start at around £13,000.
