The most popular baby names of 2025 have been revealed.
Let’s be honest, the topic of what to call a little one when they enter the world is always divisive. From parents picking more ‘traditional’ or ‘older’ names, to taking inspiration from a favourite TV show or piece of music, there are also those who go out of their way to ‘invent’ a totally new name.
But it does seem like those more ‘vintage’ names are on the rise, as a name crawled out from history and made its way back into the girls’ top 100 for the first time this century.
Of course, there were plenty of names on the list that never seem to budge from it, with the likes of Olivia, Sophia, Noah and Oliver always seeming to prove popular.

And new ones include the likes of Dua and Hana for girls, plus Alexander and Zayne for boys.

The return of a ‘vintage’ name
Particularly if you’re at that age where it feels like your social media is full of people you went to school or uni with having kids, you may have noticed that the more ‘older’ names are making a comeback.
And What to Expect reports that those vintage names are, in fact, climbing back up the charts.
"A classic, old-fashioned baby name that was popular in decades past may strike the perfect balance between modern sensibilities and time-honoured traditions," it explains.
"Vintage baby names may not be right for everyone, but it's good to know which ones are making a comeback!"
And that explains the likes of ‘Josephine’, which has made its way back onto the girls’ top 100 baby names list after over 60 years.
For the first time this century, it has now appeared again at number 96.
