Proposals can often be months in the making, all that build up, all that planning, the summoning of the nerves to pop the big question to your SO.
But even for these monumental life and relationship moments, things just don’t quite always go the way you intended.
Or they get absolutely ruined by someone else. Classic. That was unfortunately the case for Gary from Texas, US, who had been gearing up to propose to his girlfriend, Amanda, while aboard a cruise ship.
Caught in awkward AF footage, the staff had really messed up their timing after the 43-year-old bloke had already planned out the whole thing to take place at dinner.

The poor guy had splashed out on an engagement ring from the jeweller onboard the boat and was sitting anxiously waiting for it to be subtly delivered to their table in the restaurant.

Amanda is a huge fan of these cruise ship holidays, so Gary had purposely chosen this location to reflect that.
The couple were on the trip with their kids to celebrate the woman’s daughter’s birthday.
And as the footage shows, the bloke was sat patiently waiting as the wait staff came over for the big moment. Only they kind of became the big moment instead.
The waiter can be seen carrying over a slice of cake as they say: “Alright, so we’re gonna sing ‘Happy Engagement!’”
Placing a lit candle in the cake, they put it down the table while everyone is looking rather confused with a ‘what?’ and ‘oh my god’ heard from behind the camera.
The staff then start singing their little rendition of ‘Happy Engagement to you’ loud and proud while everyone bursts into laughter.
Poor old Gary looks pretty p**sed off at the mis-hap but continues with his plan as Amanda is able to see the funny side of the situation.
Part way through the song a bag is placed on the table which he grabs and gets down on one knee.
Gary pops the question while other diners are already stood up applauding and the song finishes.
Of course, Amanda said yes as their moment became pretty public before it even actually happened and an announcement could be heard being made.
The newly engaged Amanda said: "Instead of being special and romantic, it was chaotic and all wrong.
"I was so confused and couldn't help but just laugh.
"We have the worst luck so it tracks."
