Bride of rugby player who promised to be celibate until marriage says it was ‘so worth it’

Bride of rugby player who promised to be celibate until marriage says it was ‘so worth it’

The pair recently tied the knot

The wife of a rugby player who abstained from sex until they tied the knot has said the couple are now ‘enjoying the fruits of marriage’.

Max King, 25, who plays for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL recently wed his partner, Christy Young, after meeting her at church.

Due to their beliefs, the young couple were happy to wait until after they’d walked down the aisle to become… erm… physically acquainted with another.

Speaking before the wedding, Young told 2FM’s Hughesy, Ed, and Erin Show: “We are so loud and proud about our faith... it's never been something we've shied away from because it is so important to us,' Christy told 2DayFM in March.

“We spoke about it [abstaining] early on... on the first or second date.

“Christian dating 101 is you're not wasting anyone's time, it's a conversation we didn't shy away from and honestly we've seen such fruit from it in our relationship in terms of communication... it's just so good.”

She went on: “When it [sex] isn't the forefront of everything, it's like we've just been able to have such good conversations and build on our relationship, and we have such a good support system for each other.

“It does help his game, in that it's just that we have such a good foundation in our relationship.”

Since then, the happy couple have had their nuptials and Young says their wedding night was definitely worth the wait.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said: “We'd like to keep some private things to ourselves but let's just say we're enjoying the fruits of marriage.”

Young also urged other young couples to do the same, adding: “God’s ways are ways to protect us and benefit us - and I really saw how true that was when we made that commitment to wait. Was it hard - 100 percent, but so worth it.

'We didn't have sex as a distraction - so we had to actually go on dates and fill the time we spent together in other ways that weren't ‘Netflix and chill'.

“We got to spend a year and a half actually getting to know each other - and building our love and friendship. Having a man love me for me is such a deeper thing than something built on a physical tie.

“We built the friendship and love first, and then sex is the sprinkle on top. I can honestly say that Max and I have the best relationship because we waited.”
