Police Officer Approaches Woman Flouting Lockdown - Realises She's Actually A Blow-Up Doll

The officer seemed certain to issue a fine, but ended up deflating the sunbather instead

Sunbathing is very much a no no during lockdown. As such, it comes as no surprise that a police officer in France was less than impressed when they spotted a brazen woman relaxing on a deserted beach.

Footage shared on social media on Sunday shows the officer approaching the 'woman' on Carnon beach - just outside the city of Montpellier in the southern French department of Herault - presumably readying themselves to issue a fine to the unabashed rule-breaker.

But as the officer gets closer they appear understandably confused as they realise the woman is in fact a blow-up doll. The cop then stops in their tracks and takes a moment to assess their options, what with the fine now well and truly out of the window. The officer subsequently stamps all over the doll and carries it off the beach, in what would surely be considered an act of police brutality if the doll was an actual person.

It is unclear how the doll ended up there, though presumably it was the work of an anonymous prankster. However it got there, the force seemed to see the funny side of it, writing in a tweet: "The gendarmes rescued a doll that was abandoned by its owner."

The amusing misunderstanding was caught on camera by Jane Kozlowski - whose voice can be heard sniggering away throughout. The filmmaker happened to be making a documentary from her home when the incident unfolded and she subsequently shared the footage on Facebook, where it has been viewed almost 500,000 times.

She said: "I am currently making a documentary about living in isolation during the coronavirus lockdown. I have just finished my first film in a series. Every day I film the sea, the horizon, the beach, my neighbours. I live here, my terrace gives straight onto the beach.

"When I got up, I saw this parasol on the beach with this 'woman' under it. I found that what this woman was doing was very daring, because the police patrol all day long, with their helicopter, on foot or in a boat.

"After about three hours, I decided to start filming her. I have a HD camera for my work, so I zoomed in to see her up close and then it suddenly hit me that it was a blow up doll. It wasn't long before the cops showed up.

"It fills my heart to have made so many people laugh, especially during these strange times."
