More and more people are turning to fake tan to give themselves a healthy glow, safely. However, even fake tanning isn't without it's dangers, we all know someone who's had some sort of fake tan related nightmare, whether its streaky legs, orange palms or forgetting to wash it, it's not as easy as it looks.

But Danni Bruce, a carer from Nottingham, has blown all other tanning disasters right out the water with this.

I mean, look:

Twenty-year-old Danni, a self-confessed fake-tan fan, says she applied St Moriz Darker Than Dark tan, which cost her £3.99; opting for the extra dark one as other products in the range weren't leaving her with a deep enough colour.

However, rather than getting the bronzed glow she was hoping for, Danni says she was left looking like Shrek and is now unable to leave the house.

She said: "I was having a meltdown. I looked in the mirror and my whole chest was green.

"I was hiding from everybody in the house. I had my hood up and the sleeves of my dressing gown down to my hands."

Danni, who actually has a qualification in fake tanning, said within five minutes of putting the tan on she was unrecognisable.

"I'd already shared it online so when I showed photos of my green hands I had people calling me the Hulk and Shrek.

"People were photoshopping my face onto Fiona from Shrek's body.

"It was really funny actually - I took it in my stride. If I don't laugh about it then I will cry.

"However I'm not leaving the house looking like this."

She said that even after washing off the tan and revealing a less dramatic tone, her skin was still left looking 'dirty' thanks to a greenish hue to the tan, which is something she'll have to put up with until it wears off.

Danni, who has been tanning every month for four years, said: "The colour makes me look like I'm dirty, very dirty. I wouldn't use that colour again but it hasn't put me off fake tanning.

"I woke up to about thirty messages from people asking to see more after pictures.

"This has gone mad. I have had so many messages from family I haven't spoken to in ages because they've seen the post gone viral."

The photographs of the disastrous fake tan attracted more than 9,000 likes and shares online. Fair play to her, she's a good sport for sharing them. I'm not sure I'd be doing the same.

Danni said this isn't her first tanning disaster.

"I am quite notorious for having bad tanning incidents," she added.

"The funny thing is I did test [the Darker than Dark mousse] before I used it but I showered it off straight away because I didn't want it to clash with my make-up.

"I am actually qualified to fake tan other people but I've never caused problems like this to other people.

"I hope people get a laugh out of it - because I did." So did I, Danni.

St Moriz declined to comment.
