People can’t believe bloke faked Scottish accent for entire relationship and got his family ‘in on it’

People can't believe the man managed to keep it up for so long without slipping and the lengths he went to.

We've all talked ourselves up and bent the truth a little bit on a first date but this bloke really has taken the biscuit.

The art of dishonesty is very difficult to navigate - but the number one rule to remember when exaggerating to a potential contender for a relationship is that whatever you say, there's a chance you will have to prove it.

And this lad clearly brushed up on the do's and don't's of bending the truth before he met his last girlfriend - as he really managed to pull the wool over her eyes and convinced her that he was a proud Scotsman.

Take a look at this:

Although it remains unclear why on earth he would commit to the bit - completely altering his accent and his family heritage - he apparently did a half decent job at it as the poor woman had absolutely no clue.

To be fair, also roping your relatives in to make it more believable is a clever move.

His former girlfriend decided to ring up BBC Radio 1 to dish the dirt on her devilishly calculating ex during a chat with hosts Mollie King and Matt Edmondson, who were quite blown away by the web of lies.

The woman explained she had been seeing a supposedly Scottish bloke and everything was going swimmingly - until she started bragging about her new man to a mutual friend who quickly burst her bubble.

The woman told the story on BBC Radio 1.

She explained: "I found out we had a mutual friend and I mentioned, 'Oh yeah like, he's Scottish, isn't he?'

"And she was like, 'No he's not - he's from Surrey!'"

The presenters recoiled in shock while beginning to ponder what on earth that amalgamation of accents would sound like, before pressing the caller for further details.

The woman continued: "Then I got ghosted! And it turned out he actually had a girlfriend in Scotland instead."

A truly bizarre crossover - God only knows what accent he was putting on for his lover in the Highlands.

Ever the joker, Matt asked her whether he was 'able to keep it up during times of passion' - before quickly clarifying he was referring to the bloke's accent.

Get your minds out of the gutter!

Turns out the man had managed to rope his dad into going along with the bit too.

Apparently the man managed to keep his Scottish twang up '24/7'.

The woman revealed she had met his dad, who also had a strong Scottish accent - suggesting that this devious dater had briefed his parents on the elaborate ruse he was keeping up beforehand.

And social media users couldn't believe the man had managed to keep it up for so long without slipping and the lengths he went to.

One said: "I thought men’s weird lies couldn’t surprise me anymore. Turns out, I was wrong."

Another commented: "So he'll commit to an accent but not a significant other?!"

A third wrote: "Noooo the family was in on it as well!!!"

And a fourth added: "Him and his dad were clearly barking mad."
