Britney Spears is under investigation for misdemeanor battery after a complaint from a member of her staff, police have said.
According to NBC News, an alleged physical dispute took place on Monday 16 August in Spears' home, at around 10.25am.
She and her employee were reportedly involved in a confrontation, with Spears allegedly slapping the employee's phone out of their hands.

NBC News reports that the staff member then called deputies to the property, before going to a sheriff's station to file a report, adding that the worker was not hurt.
In a statement to BuzzFeed News, Capt. Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said: "The staff member reported that during the dispute, Ms. Spears struck her."
BuzzFeed reports that the incident could be considered misdemeanor battery.

The investigators' reports will be forwarded on to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office for any potential charges.
Spears' lawyer Mathew Rosengart has dismissed the allegation as 'sensational tabloid fodder'.
Rosengart told BuzzFeed in a statement via email: "This is overblown sensational tabloid fodder - nothing more than a manufactured 'he said she said' regarding a cell phone, with no striking and obviously no injury whatsoever.
"Anyone can make an accusation, but this should have been closed immediately.

"To its credit, the Sheriff's office itself has said the incident was classified as a 'very minor misdemeanor' and confirmed 'there were no injuries'."
Rosengart, a former federal prosecutor, was recently appointed Spears' new lawyer as she continues in her attempts to terminate the conservatorship which governs her life and career.
He recently vowed to keep 'vigorously' investigating Spears' dad after Jamie Spears announced he would be willing to step down as Britney's conservator.
Rosengart said in a statement: "We are pleased that Mr. Spears and his lawyer have today conceded in a filing that he must be removed. It is vindication for Britney.

"We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms. Spears and others.
"We look forward to continuing our vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr. Spears, and others, over the past 13 years, while he reaped millions of dollars from his daughter's estate, and I look forward to taking Mr. Spears's sworn deposition in the near future.
"In the interim, rather than making false accusations and taking cheap shots at his own daughter, Mr. Spears should remain silent and step aside immediately."
LADbible has reached out to Ventura County Sheriff's Office and Mathew Rosengart's office for comment.
