The music industry is still in shock after news broke that Swedish DJ Avicii was found dead in Oman at the age of 28. There's still no word on exactly what caused his death, leaving fans devastated.

Some have been trying to piece together his last movements on social media as they try to make sense of the tragic events, but photos show him happy, smiling and seemingly enjoying his time in Oman.

Three days before he died he was pictured at the Muscat Hills Resort on the country's north-eastern coast.

The hotel has posted a tribute on its Instagram page saying: "As Muscat Hills Resort, we have been receiving excessive amount of calls and messages with regards to the unfortunate death of Mr. Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii.

"Due to privacy reasons, we are unable to provide details with regards to any of our guests' visit or stay, however, all we can confirm is that Avicii did visit Muscat Hills Resort and throughout his visit he was extremely kind to all our staff and acted like any of our regular guests.

"Avicii definitely did seem to be in good spirits while enjoying his time and he was also very friendly with everyone.

"As much as we enjoyed his company here at Muscat Hills Resort, we are extremely sad to hear and read all the recent news and therefore we would like to express our sincere condolences to his family, friends and all his fans."

Avicii's EDM peers Zedd, Martin Garrix, Dash Berlin and Calvin Harris have all paid tribute to the young DJ in the wake of his passing:

His publicist released a statement, saying: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii.

"He was found dead in Muscat, Oman, this Friday afternoon local time, April 20.

"The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."

Just a few days ago Avicii tweeted 'Thanks for the nomination' when he was put forward for the top dance/electronic album at the Billboard Music Awards.

He quit live performances in 2016 after being diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, which was caused by excessive alcohol use.
