Shaquille O'Neal once spent $1 million (£720,000) in just 45 minutes, so it's no surprise that he managed to splash $70,000 (£50,000) in Walmart of all places. Surprising or not, it's still impressive.

The 49-year-old former basketball player explained how he landed in Phoenix and got to an empty apartment so he went out at 2/3am to go and kit his pad out. Like you do.

Shaq was on the show with Victoria Beckham.

Speaking to James Corden on The Late Late Show with James Corden, he said: "I have the biggest purchase in Walmart history.

"$70,000. I get traded from Miami to Phoenix, and I'm the type of guy [that] I have no patience.

"So when I get to Phoenix, they have an apartment for me. Nothing's in it."

What followed sounds like an IRL version of Sims.

He went on to add: "Two or three in the morning, I gotta go get four or five TVs, I gotta go get printers, I gotta go get laptops. I gotta go get sheets, towels, underwear, t-shirts.

"So at the end it was $70,000 so I put my credit card in and it got declined. So I pulled it out."

At this point he imitated himself breathing on the card before rubbing it on his chest in a bid to clean it.

He went on: "I put it back in and it said declined again."

With the straightest face, he then said: "So now I'm saying 'well, I know I'm not broke.'

"So I just said 'alright, I'll be back' and then the American Express security called me [and he said] 'hey man, somebody stole your credit card and they spent $70,000 at Walmart'.

"I said 'no that was me', [the security guard replied] 'what the hell are you buying for $70,000?'"

The interview originally took place back in 2018 but recently resurfaced on TikTok.

Many were loving the tale, with one writing: "I can imagine the man asking 'WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU BUYING IN WALMART FOR $70,000?' cause I also did it."

Others were quick to tag Mr Beast in the clip after the YouTuber - real name Jimmy Donaldson - bought every. single. thing in five stores.

None of them were Walmart though so... Shaq may still hold the impressive record.
