Christina Applegate found out that she has been misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) for years.
The Anchorman star, 54, announced in 2021 that she had been diagnosed with the incurable condition affecting the brain and spinal cord, according to the NHS.
During an episode of MeSsy podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, the actor said she was reevaluated after ‘new technology that had come out’ revealed that doctors misdiagnosed her.
“This may come as great news, but, to me, it comes as I’m back at square one,” she said, explaining that her doctor ‘came into my room and she said, ‘Congratulations! You don’t have MS’.”

In Tuesday’s episode of the show, Applegate joked: “Talk about being a fraud. I don’t even have it anymore. Geez,” before sharing her serious intentions.

“I’ll never leave this community. We made so many lifelong friends, and I care so deeply about everybody that we represent and I represent. I’m still always going to be a part of it in one way or another.”
Applegate’s doctors are now testing her for sister diseases to MS, like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Lyme disease.
“I’m being tested for those things slowly but surely,” she said. “I lived as a person with MS for almost six years.”
Last month, Applegate revealed she was ‘not happy at all’, adding: “You don’t get misdiagnosed, and then all of a sudden I’m better. I haven’t gotten better.

“I’ve gotten worse, in some ways. I’m back at square one. I don’t know what’s going on with me.
“That’s going to be an online investigation my doctors are going to get into to find out what’s been happening since 2021.
“Why did this happen? I have every symptom of someone with MS. Every single one. We both know that there are many things that mirror MS. Many different things.”
Sigler, who was diagnosed with MS in 2001, thanked Applegate a week later on the podcast for being open about her misdiagnosis.

“I think a lot of people feel very seen It’s ignited and supported a conversation that’s been out there but maybe not getting the visibility or attention that some people felt that it should,” the actor, who starred on The Sopranos, said.
“Not even just about a misdiagnosis, but about how difficult it is to get a correct diagnosis, and all of the different types of things, especially autoimmune and neurological that can mimic one of the other, and the frustration that comes along with that, and the heaviness that can come with a diagnosis, and all the feelings around it.”
