Celebrity Traitors star James Blunt has revealed that viewers 'didn’t see the full extent' of what unfolded before James Acaster admitted to his role.
Now that the BBC series has wrapped up for another year, the 'You're Beautiful' singer has spoken out in defence of his co-star who has been getting a fair bit of flack from viewers.
According to Blunt, people really ought to take it easy on Acaster - as he claims that the comedian's cover had been blown before he controversially confessed to being a Traitor.

Sebastian ‘Bash’ Croft and Romesh Ranganathan won Celebrity Traitors last Friday (30 October) after a chaotic few weeks of us watching household names deceiving one another.
As fans of the show will be well aware, Acaster really struggled with this aspect of the show and dubbed himself a 'reluctant Traitor'.
He decided to play the game on his 'own terms' and operated as faithfully as he could without exposing himself - until his dramatic revelation at his final roundtable.
Acaster crumbled under the pressure and unmasked himself as a Traitor, telling the surviving cast members: "I was made a Traitor, without wanting to be.
"I've had a unique experience on this that no one has had before, where I wanted to be a Faithful, that's all I wanted to be. I couldn't just go, 'Guys it's me, vote for me'. But that's all I can do, really."
A lot of people watching at home seemed to think that he offered up this information far too easily - but Blunt insists that he only squealed after being put under a lot of pressure.
Acaster's co-stars had demanded an explanation about his role in Ross Kemp’s plain sight murder, and he apparently had no leg to stand on.

Speaking to the BBC, the 52-year-old singer explained that Acaster was caught in a lie about a perfume bottle that was used to take out Kemp.
The funnyman is said to have realised that he wasn't able to dig himself out of this duplicity, hence his confession.
Discussing the difference between what he witnessed in real life and what viewers saw unfold, Blunt said: "He didn’t fall on his sword. That’s what you saw, that’s what you feel, but he didn’t.
"You didn’t see the full extent of the interrogation. It went incredibly hard, and he did allude to that in his Uncloaked [interview]."
In his exit interview, Acaster explained he had initially thought there was absolutely no heat on him whatsoever', so he wasn't prepared for the grilling he received.
"It was sprung on me," the stand-up star, 41, said. "It was a surprise, definitely. So that was like a shocker. But I was glad that they caught me."
Blunt says they had Acaster bang to rights
Blunt said he and his fellow celebs had Acaster 'pinned to a post', adding: "We got him. We really, really got him.
"How that played out hasn't been revealed to you, but it was...he didn't just say, 'Oh guys, you've got me'. It was heavy in there and it was clear-cut."
Blunt said that some scenes of Celebrity Traitors had him 'screaming at the screen', as his recollection of the events was a lot different.
"No matter what really went on in that castle, you’re a victim to the edit," he said.

Acaster offered fans some insight into his experience on the show while recently speaking to Far Out Magazine.
"Nothing feels very real at the minute," he told the publication. "The Traitors is going out but it hasn't really affected my life at all which feels more surreal.
"I prepared myself for being bombarded all the time which hasn't happened. I don't look at stuff online all the time. I'm like 'Is anyone watching it?!"
If you were wondering, 10.7 million tuned in to watch the semi-final and Acaster's confession.
