Dave Franco has spoken out strongly after his brother James claimed he'd been 'cast out' of Hollywood.
The brothers both pursued a career in acting and for a while it seemed as though James was the more successful with roles in the likes of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, The Interview and 127 Hours.
However, in more recent years, it's Dave who has been doing better with his appearances in the Now You See Me movies, Together and The Studio.
Meanwhile, James has been saying he was 'cast out' of Hollywood following a series of sexual misconduct allegations made against him by five women, four of which had been former acting students of his at his now defunct film school Studio 4.

James denied the allegations but in 2021 he settled a legal case brought by two of his accusers and paid $2.23 million, having largely stayed out of the spotlight since then.

He said he'd taken 'a pause' after that, and when asked by Variety whether he thought it had been 'unfair', he claimed he'd moved on.
"I mean, it is what it is. I’ve honestly moved past it. It was dealt with, and I got to change," the elder Franco brother had said.
"So that’s it, it’s over. I mean, I’ve worked in the U.S. too. So I’m just trying to move on."

Meanwhile, Dave Franco has strongly rejected the idea that his success is down to his older brother.
He explained that James did help him find an agent when he was starting out but quashed the idea that he owes his career to his brother, adding that if he 'sucked' as an actor then he would have found it hard to get work.
Dave recently told Bustle 'no-one was going to hire me just because I was James Franco’s little brother' and that his career 'would’ve disappeared very quickly' if he wasn't good at what he did.

He did say that his older brother was still keeping tabs on his career, with Dave saying he thought James was 'excited just to see me trying new things and to see me grow'.

James did admit in 2021 on The Jess Cagle Podcast that he'd been sleeping with students at his film school and acknowledged 'that was wrong', but insisted 'it wasn’t a master plan on my part'.
He said that 'being told you’re bad is painful' and the work he's had in films since then has been sparse, with former friend Seth Rogen appearing to cut ties with him.
