How to watch the Oscars in the UK tonight

If you're wondering how to watch the Oscars tonight, ITV has your back

If you’re like many celeb followers, then you’ll know that tonight is going to be the night for the Academy Awards to celebrate amazing movies around the world.

Set at its usual spot in the LA Dolby Theater, thousands of A, B, C, D and every other letter of the alphabet’s listers, will be looking glam as ever.

The 96th Academy Awards is going to be another year that we see actors gain the spotlight they deserve - and from cinema titans like Oppenheimer and Barbie to arthouse hits Poor Things and Past Lives, this year's movie lineup is definitely been one to watch.

But as a Brit, where on Earth can you watch it?

Let’s check out everything you need to know to watch the Oscars tonight:

How to watch the Oscars in the UK tonight

Previously, you had the privilege of watching the Awards on Sky, but it's not free to view for everyone.

From the first steps on the Red Carpet to the entire length of the ceremony, you’ll be able to chill out on the sofa with your assortment of snacks as it airs on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.

Join Jonathan Ross at 10.30pm for the warmup and find out what to expect.

Tonight is the night.

Who is hosting this year’s ceremony?

Well, if you were expecting Neil Patrick Harris to take over the stage with a fantastic theatrical rendition or some thinly veiled insults by Ricky Gervais, it’s not happening this year.

Instead, you’ll be taken on a journey with Hollywood’s favourite late-night host (sorry Fallon), Jimmy Kimmel.

After previously presenting in 2017, 2018 and last year in 2023, Kimmel is back to saving the day with family-friendly fun and quick-witted quips at A-listers in the crowd.

What time is the Oscars on in the UK?

Well, you’ll be glad (and tired) to know that you can watch this lavish celebration at…2am.

I know it’s way past many people’s bedtime, but it's surely worth feeling a bit groggy in the morning - unless you have work.

Then perhaps not.

Who are the nominees?

The main categories to keep an eye on are Best Picture, Best Actor and Actress, Best Supporting Roles and Best Director.

Up for Best Actor, we have Maestro's Bradley Cooper, Oppenheimer's Cillian Murphy and The Holdover's Paul Giamatti - to name a few.

Meanwhile, the award for Best Actress could be won by Killers of the Flower Moon's Lily Gladstone, Poor Things' Emma Stone or Maestro's Carey Mulligan - unfortunately Barbie's Margot Robbie didn't make the cut to a lot of people's surprise.

Both Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera are nominated for their supporting roles in Barbie though, while Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese go neck-to-neck for Best Director.

Lastly, you’ll finally find out who the winner is between Barbie and Oppenheimer as they are both up for nomination for the Best Picture Award.

I’ll be on the edge of my seat tonight, that’s for sure.
