Lizzo has put the record straight over her weight loss, having explained the truth behind drug rumours.
It has long been speculated that the ‘Good as Hell’ singer owed her transformation to Ozempic, but she initially denied the allegations.
The 37-year-old has been fairly open about her lifestyle changes and fitness regime over the years but even despite her right to privacy, the body positivity advocate’s size and shape have continued to be a topic of public discussion.
And last month, Lizzo admitted to trying out Ozempic as part of her efforts to lose weight.
However, she made it clear that she did not rely on it, just merely gave it a go before deciding not to focus on it for her weight loss journey.
Lizzo wanted to show her appreciation following her lymphatic massages (Instagram/lizzobeeating) Appearing on Trisha Paytas’ Just Trish podcast, the singer said she tried the medication but decided to stop using it early on.
"It's not easy. It's a drug to help somebody with something they're struggling with," Lizzo said. "I think people... it's their way of being fat phobic when you're telling someone they're cheating."
And in a new Instagram post, the ‘Truth Hurts’ singer wanted to share ‘the truth’ in light of ‘all these magazines and blogs’ wanting her to be ‘on Ozempic soooo bad’.
“I work my ass off, training 3x a week, daily sauna & cardio, adding animal protein back into my diet, hiring a chef who helps me meal prep and keeps track of what I put into my body in a calorie deficit, cutting out sugary Starbucks & full fat sodas & potato chips…” she wrote.
Lizzo went on to add that she also ‘quit drinking for the longest’ but has started again because she ‘earned it’.
“I play pickleball and hike and walk on the beach and move my body and dance and drink water,” she continued.
The singer ran through what she's tried out on her weight loss journey (Instagram/lizzobeeating) “I detox! Once a month! I also get holistic body work done, wood therapy, and lymphatic massage.”
Rightly so, the star added that she’s so ‘happy and proud’ of what she’s done and that ‘no one can take that away’.
Her post came as ‘appreciation’ for beautician Flávia Lanini following Lizzo’s recent lymphatic massage. These massages help to boost circulation and remove toxins from your body. They can help to reduce swelling and water retention.
During the podcast appearance, the singer credited much of her weight loss to the changes in her diet and working out.
"I don't like to tell people too much about releasing weight like what I did because I don't want people to do what I did and it doesn't work for them," Lizzo added. "Everybody's body is different."
