The countdown for the Olympics is well and truly on, and we’re just days away from watching athletes from around the world compete in all kinds of sports from football and swimming, to breakdancing and skateboarding.

And that means we’re back to the usual antics; a load of sex in the Olympic Village, the rumours of surprises for the opening ceremony and random celebrities carrying the torch.

One of those confirmed his role this morning – Snoop Dogg.

Yep, the ‘Drop It Like it’s Hot’ rapper is being given the responsibility of carrying the Olympic torch during is final stages of the relay in Paris on Friday (26 July).

But while he teased his presence this morning, fans have pointed out a big ‘problem’ for the 52-year-old.

Real name Calvin Broadus Jr, the hip-hop star took to X with a snap of him outside the city hall Hotel de Ville as he wrote: “U Ready? Paris 2024 Olympics ya digggg”, with gold medal and boxing glove emojis.

Snoop is actually working as a special correspondent for NBC while he’s out in Paris, and limbered up for his time in the French capital by posting a time of 34.44 seconds over 200 metres during a special exhibition race at the US trials last month.

And sure, it’s all pretty fun and exciting that the ‘Young, Wild & Free’ rapper is going to be carrying the Olympic torch, fans think he might be forgetting a very specific thing.

That’s the fact that cannabis use is illegal in France. Well, the country is even regarded by many as having some of the strictest laws on the drug in Europe.

Some types of cannabis-derived products are permitted there for medical uses but very widely, weed is illegal there no matter how popular it is.

So, while fans are excited about Snoop’s little side hustle gig at the Olympics, many were quick to remind him: “Snoop, you know weed is illegal in Paris?”

Because let’s be honest, we all know he likes a joint now and then. Ok, well most of the time.

Another user wrote: “hope he’s gonna be searched tho .. so he doesn’t carry weed on him and maybe light it up with that torch, would be iconic tho.”

Others even joked: “Bro thinks the Olympic torch is a joint.”

With many warning him: “Be careful, weed is illegal in France.”

While one remained hopeful: “The torch is also packed with weed and at the end of the carrying, he'll take a massive hit and form the Olympics logo with the smoke exhalation.”

Now that would be an Olympic opener.
