New Year’s Eve blowouts and big ideas: maybe you’re heading down to your local to bask in karaoke glory, or perhaps there’s adventure on the cards, with sun, sea, and excitement on the horizon?

While you scribble down your resolutions and hunt through the dark for that elusive NYE kiss, the elite are packing into Caribbean clubs, tucking into better-than-five-star meals whipped up by private chefs, and probably parading up and down their super yachts.

How do we know that? Well, it’s thanks to Italian-based travel writer Jim Dobson, who took to social media to share a now-viral image on December 29.

Described as the ‘ultimate networking event’, the picture, taken from Marine Traffic, showed several watercraft docked in and around St Barths, the glamorous, 11-mile-long island located in the Lesser Antilles, southeast of St. Martin and Anguilla.

The picture was accompanied by a description that read: “Pretty much every billionaire in the Caribbean has anchored their mega-yachts in St. Barths for New Year’s Eve—Jeff Bezos, Michael Jordan, David Geffen.”

Writing for Forbes, Dobson explained on December 19 that the world’s wealthiest players, along with a plethora of famous faces, had sailed into the Caribbean for the holidays.

“Many will stick around through Christmas, hopping between islands during the day before closing out the holidays with the famous New Year’s Eve fireworks over Fort Oscar in St. Barts,” he wrote.

Gustavia Harbour, based on the island of Saint Barthélemy, is currently playing host to 327 vessels, according to Marine Traffic.

One hundred fifty-eight of these boats entered the area within the last 24 hours, seemingly proving the journalist’s NYE theory correct. 70 have also left Gustavia Harbour in the previous 24 hours, according to the site.

So, who are the celebrities spending New Year’s Eve partying in the Caribbean, and who are the most powerful people in the world who are joining them?

Well, Forbes has listed every super yacht that is currently in St. Parts, with details correct as of today (December 30).

Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos’s super sailing yacht, Koru, which stretches 417 feet and can accommodate up to 18 guests, is currently in the area, as is his support vessel, Abeona.

The Aquarius II, owned by Disney CEO Bob Iger, is there too, alongside Dr Phil’s Bad Romance V, and former Topshop owner Sir Philip Green’s Lionhearted.

David Gennen, the wealthiest person in the global entertainment industry, has Rising Sun docked in St. Barts alongside sportsman Michael Jordan’s 244-foot ship, M Brace.

Other business bigwigs that you may be familiar with include Dallas Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones - whose Bravo Eugenia comes with two helipads, a sauna, and a steam room - and Google co-founder, Sergey Brin.

The latter’s super yacht is called Dragonfly, while Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie is currently out there in Kaos.

British inventor Sir James Dyson’s luxury motor yacht, Nahlin, is currently in the British Virgin Islands, while Reebok shoe billionaire Paul Fireman’s Solvates is over in St. Maarten.

Forbes reported that there is a long list of parties to choose from this year on the French Caribbean island.

These include events at Gyp Sea beach club, set to be headlines by Calvin Harris, at at Nikki Beach, where DJ Diplo will perform, as per the outlet.

Wherever they end up going, it’s apparently important to know whether you should sit inside or outside the venue.

Henley Vazquez, Co-Founder of Fora Travel, told the publication: “For nightlife, knowing where to sit matters as much as where you go.

“At Bagatelle, inside/outside seating makes all the difference, and you want to be inside. Le Café next door is equally fun, and Sella (in the former Maya’s space) starts as a great dinner and quietly turns into a party later in the evening. Book a late res!”

If you’re reading this, and you’re part of the elite on your way to Saint Barthélemy, then trust us—we’re jealous. A round of drinks in the local for everyone else?
