Audition clip shows Tom Hardy practising Bane voice 10 years before Dark Knight Rises release

Audition clip shows Tom Hardy practising Bane voice 10 years before Dark Knight Rises release

An old clip of the actor has resurfaced, and it reveals how he has always been skilled with voices

An old audition clip of Tom Hardy auditioning for one of his first roles has resurfaced, and people are convinced you can hear hints of his Bane voice.

The British actor is known for his talent of doing several weird and varying accents/voices, and for portraying a number of different characters - but this was unknown to many in the film industry during the early 2000s.

A young Hardy in his mid-20s was trying to get his big break as an actor, eventually finding success after a supporting role in Star Trek: Nemesis.

But following the news that the actor would star as Eddie Brock in a third instalment of Marvel's Venom franchise in the upcoming film, Venom: The Last Dance, old footage of the actor has gone viral on social media, highlighting just how talented he has always been.

So far in his career, the actor has portrayed the likes of Bane in the Batman franchise, Mad Max himself, Ronald & Reginald Kray in Legend, Al Capone, and, of course, the eerie voice of Venom - to name a few.

It's fair to say that the 46-year-old has not been typecast, as he has displayed skills and talents that could put him in any role that he would most likely succeed at.

But the range of voices that he can put on for different roles is something that boggles the mind, and puts him in a bracket of his own.

A clip has started doing the rounds on X, formerly Twitter, of the then 25-year-old actor auditioning (and eventually getting) for the part of Shinzon in 2002 film Star Trek: Nemesis.

The character was a clone of the iconic Captain Picard, portrayed by Patrick Stewart, created to replace him, but later seizes control of the Romulan Senate.

Nevertheless, Shinzon has a unique, chilling voice that Hardy seemed to nail in his audition opposite Stewart, intimidating the character in front of him with his head movements and sinister tone when speaking.

However, fans were quick to notice that you can hear hints of Hardy's Bane voice in the clip - a role he would undertake 10 years later in the 2012 hit film, The Dark Knight Rises.

Antagonist Bane famously wears a mask that distorts his voice slightly, giving him a much lower pitch and a distinct sound, that Hardy nails.

Fans highlighted the talents that Hardy had with different voices in the comments section of the video.

One user commented: "It's pretty funny how one guy has been Mad Max, Venom, Bane, and... Captain Picard."

Another put: "Incredible range - all in mere moments."

A third said: "Man's been putting in the reps for years"

A different user added: "English actors are predominantly character actors unlike American actors who prefer to play themselves. Most traditional actors here have very different original accents. Stewart being a great example."
